1/12/05 Anonymous Message #2411
With regard to Michael Negrete, where on earth was he going at 4:00AM. I'm thinking he may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time -- and as I've now learned from studying these cases for the past three years -- trying to locate a missing person or their remains is like looking for a needle in a haystack. The sad fact is that if Michael's body wasn't hidden somewhere, he could be in a morgue listed as an unidentified John Doe. I hate the fact that a certain percentage of those missing are simply never found. I pray every day this will not be the case with Joshua

Well, at this point, all anyone can do is weigh the various possibilities. All we can do is theorize and where has it gotten us? What if Josh somehow wound up in a lake and sunk into the mud at the bottom of that lake? Would Trident's sonar have been able to detect him? I know the results of Tridents' underwater search and what their conclusion was -- but everytime I try to imagine someone "fooling" Josh into going with them -- I just think he's too smart ........ unless it was someone he knew well

Jeff: The person earlier depicted on the website was identified as someone who once ran for political office in the state of Minnesota. He has no connection with Josh's disappearance. As we know, Josh planned a career in politics after completing law school, so it's not unusual that he would have downloaded images of political figures.

1/12/05 Jeff Message #2408
"A while back there was a picture of a man on this website and a request to identify this man. I noticed that this picture is gone. Was the person identified? Is he linked to the case? ... THANKS. "

1/12/05 Nick Message #2407
Anonymous, it's tough for me to come to any conclusions about what the tracking dogs "should have" picked up, as I'm no expert in the field. The dogs used shortly after his disappearance seemed to go toward a lake. But we now know with as much certainty as we could reasonably want that Josh isn't in that lake. Because of that, in my opinion the dogs tell us little if anything.

1/12/05 Joe Message #2406
"There was a young man who vanished under similar circumstances from UCLA five years ago. He left his dorm room at 4am on a Friday morning and vanished. Dogs followed his scent across campus to an intersection about half a mile away where it simply disappeared. His name is Michael Negrete. ... However things turn out, let us never forget their names...and let us continue to hope that their safe return will occur sooner, rather than later. After all, isn't hope what keeps all of us strong? ... My prayers and hopes are with Joshua's family...and so many others."

1/11/05 Anonymous Message #2405
It seems that the only way an abduction could have taken place would be if someone Joshua knew convinced him to go somewhere ... though the dogs did not pick up Joshua's scent anywhere except near that one lake I believe. Joshua being a tall, in shape young man makes me think that it would have been difficult for anyone to abduct him forcefully...unless they had a gun I guess...still don't you think the tracking dogs would have picked up some kind of trail?

1/11/05 -- Message #2404
Anonymous, thank you so much for the information -- it is so frustrating to search for answers or even insights into this case with such a dearth of info available to the public...I greatly appreciate your help

There are wetlands and marshy areas on campus but no quicksand or anything of that nature. There are no areas on campus posted as being dangerous. The only on-campus drowning incident in recent memory involved some off-campus people fishing from a canoe that capsized in the dark. They were non-swimmers and had no life preservers. NO pedestrian has ever drowned on campus. Click here for an analysis of theories in Josh's disappearance, including the "wetland theory."

1/10/05 Anonymous Message #2401
I've never been to the St. John's campus -- but I recently spoke with someone who is familiar with the topography of that area -- and this person remarked that much of the area there is wetlands -- and that it would be easy for someone to actually sink in it. My immediate thought about that is -- if that's the case -- how come no one else has ever sunk in those areas before? And if it's that dangerous -- wouldn't students know about that and avoid it? Just struggling, still, to figure out what happened...

1/6/05 Nick Message #2400
"My roommate overheard two SJU alums talking about Josh in a bookstore today. I'm posting here to clarify some things in the hope that those two, or others who have similar information, read this page. First, to my knowledge, the police never actually believed Josh was abducted. There may have been some small amount of investigation on this question (I'm not sure), but I don't think the police ever actually believed this occurred. They certainly did not publicly express such a theory. ... (continued below -- and note that the post below is the second of two parts)"

1/6/05 Nick Message #2399
Second, there is no reason to believe Josh just "left" (read: ran away) on his own free will. Josh had every reason to finish his college education -- namely, to go to law school at an elite institution. Further, his car was not moved from where it was last parked, so he didn't drive himself. He was also not dressed for the cold weather, as he didn't even have a coat on -- only a sweatshirt and jeans. Finally, it's extremely likely that had he somehow run away despite not taking his car, someone would have seen him at some point. I hope this clears up any misconceptions. (continued below)

I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your family. I graduated from St. Ben's and now my baby brother attends St. John's. He is in his senior year. I can't imagine not knowing where he is or not being able to talk to him everyday. I walked around that campus so many times, I can't believe that no one saw anything or heard anything. With you, I urge anyone to speak out. I totally commend you for this web site--educating everyone of your son, helping them to get to know who he is. Believe me when I say that your love, hope, and prayer will bring him home. You are in my prayers. God Bless.

12/31/04 MICHAEL CIALONE Message #2397
BEFORE THIS YEAR ENDS, I WANT TO CONVEY MY DEEP CONCERN FOR JOSHUA AND HIS FAMILY. I TOO WENT TO A PRIVATE COLLEGE LOCATED IN CONNECTICUT. THE DOORS WERE NEVER LOCKED; IT WAS A STRICT CATHOLIC SEMINARY. TODAY YOU ARE ALL IN MY PRAYERS. I HAD A SISTER WHO WAS HOMELESS AND VERY ILL IN ORLANDO, FL. MY FOLKS ALSO AGONIZED OVER HER, SO MANY TIMES, I WOULD HEAR MY PARENTS EXPRESS THEIR DISMAY; THEY DID NOT KNOW WHERE SHE WAS IN FLORIDA. I AM SO CONVINCED THAT ONLY THE HEALING POWER OF JESUS CHRIST CAN HEAL THE BROKEN HEART. PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN SEARCHING FOR JOSHUA.

I hope this holiday season and coming new year can bring the answers you are looking for, and most of all bring Josh home. Our family will keep praying for you. ...   "COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (AP) - The father of a St. John's student who went missing two years ago has reached an agreement with the Order of St. Benedict regarding a dispute about his visits to campus. ... Brian Guimond settled with the order on Friday, the same day a judge was to hear testimony on a request to keep Guimond from having unsupervised visits to the university, said Guimond's lawyer, Charles Hawkins. ... Details of the settlement, reached before Judge Willard Lorette in Stearns County District Court, were not disclosed... ... After the settlement, Guimond said there was no order preventing him from going to campus... (Sheriff) Sanner said his civil process division still has an active harassment order against Guimond and that if Guimond comes to campus without an escort, he will be arrested. ... Sanner said court officials told him the order was ''under advisement.'' ... "

To Josh's parents: You have a beautiful son, and your both in my thoughts and prayers. My neice Brianna went missing in March, her car was found abandoned. She left behind her ATM card, 2 uncashed paychecks, medications and all her personal things. Fight for what you have to, sometimes it seem there is no justice, for families' of the missing. My Thoughts are with you, Tammy

12/4/04 Brenna Message #2389
I was looking up St. John's sweatshirts a few minutes ago. My 17 year old brother really wants one from St. John's University. I had no idea that someone was missing from this campus. My prayers are with Josh, his friends, and family.

I am sorry to come back and fill up this area with my posts, because I know I should let others post but I wanted to tell Josh's dad something. You have my full support in going back to that college campus looking for your son. I think they are wrong to try to file a restraining order against you. I also wanted you to know that I admire your determination and efforts to find Josh. I'm thinking of you all during this difficult time. I believe that Josh will be found. I will check continue to check in on Josh.

Josh, We understand the candlelight vigil, held November 9th, went extremely well. It was well attended and it was, for the most part, upbeat. It still tears us apart that we cannot speak to you or see you. We think about you daily. Those thoughts are about the times we spent with you. They are what keep us going. We never forget, we just go on. We will love you always. Uncle Paul & Aunt Lin

11/19/04 Mom Message #2381
Josh, Still trying to find you and figure out what happened. I think about you constantly and wonder what things would be like if you had never gone missing. Alot of people still ask if there are any new developements on the case. Unfortunately I always have to give the same answer: No nothing new. I have a hard time with there being nothing whatsoever to go on. We won't stop looking and trying to figure this out. Love always Mom

Josh, you would've been proud of your mockers this weekend. As always, we had a wonderful time at the Macalester Invitational, the site of some of our fondest mock trial memories. We have an unprecedented number of new mockers this year, but the captains have done a wonderful job of teaching them. You'd be very happy to see how this program, which you played such a crucial role in building, is flourishing.

I want to inform everyone that there has been a change in plans for November 9th. Instead of holding the vigil in St. Cloud we will be having it in Maple Lake at Joshua's church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church. It will begin at 7:00p.m. with a candlelight vigil by the tree's planted for him. Then there will be a prayer service and a time for people to share their thoughts if they'd like to. Thank you.

11/1/04 Aunt Barb Message #2363
I just wanted to let everyone know that the family and friends of Josh will be holding a silent vigil in Courthouse Square in St. Cloud, MN on November 9th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. This is the 2nd anniversary of the day he went missing. The purpose of the vigil is to remind everyone that Josh is still missing, we won't stop looking and we will never give up hope! We welcome all who would like to join us in the Square to bring a candle and your prayers. If you can't be there, show your support by holding your own vigil at the same time outside your homes. We love and miss you Joshua. Aunt Barb

10/22/04 Aubrey Immelman Message #2359
Today is the 15th anniversary of Jacob Wetterling's abduction. Please leave a light on outside your home tonight to symbolize Jacob's path home. Our hope is that the lights will inspire someone to finally come forward with information that will lead to the arrest of Jacob's abductor. Please show the same consideration for Joshua on Tuesday night, November 9, on the second anniversary of Josh's disappearance. Keep hope alive. Fifteen years is too long to wait for justice.
