9/1/04 SJU support Message #2256
No it does not, but in the end it is a choice we have all made. As I said I would like SJU to give more than they have, but then again perhaps I should have given more as well.

9/1/04 Anonymous Message #2255
SJU Support: As for financial responsibility, I agree that it would be nice for other people or organizations to step up to the plate. But the fact that they haven't does not in any way excuse St. John's for not doing so.

9/1/04 SJU support Message #2254
"As far as the legal matters between SJU and Josh's father, I am saddened that it came to that, but as a former writer said, Saint Johns is responsible for the safety and well being of all their students and when that safety is threatened and students feel and report feeling threatened it is then the job of that institution to take action to correct that. In regard to financial responsibility, I believe that many people and institutions could give more than they have. I would love to see Saint Johns finance and organize another search, but I would also like to see other organizations step up and take part in the search. In the end Saint Johns has become an easy scape goat, and the brunt of unfair accusations, both of wish will not bring Josh home any sooner. My prayers are with both Josh and his family and the Saint Johns community. ... "

9/1/04 SJU support Message #2253
I will forever remember and pray for Josh and his safe return. However, to be honest I am quite sick of the Saint Johns bashing. First of all speculation and innuendo has not and will not help find Josh, its useless and childless. Unlike the former writer, I would not think twice about sending my child to an institution which has committed a lifetime of good act and produced well rounded, ethically centered, socially conscious individuals.

9/1/04 Anonymous Message #2252
" ... Apparently one lapse in judgement is enough to condemn a school for a lifetime!?!?!?!?!?!"

9/1/04 -- Message #2251
St. John's can pat it's self on the back for providing minimal assistance in the search for Joshua -- but frankly -- no one's buying their proclamation that they have done all they can to help Joshua's family. St. John's is a wealthy school with a long history in the community. That they would not provide more extensive assistance to the Guimond family is both tragic and troubling. I would certainly think a good long while before sending a child there - just based on how they've dealt with this missing student case -- it is disconcerting and worrisome to say the least

9/1/04 CSB SJU Alum Message #2250
"Dear CSB First Year Student, ... As a recent Alum I can appreciate the difference you feel walking on campus, but to be honest I felt safe on that campus before and I still do. Also in regard to SJU and the way they have handled Josh's dad, I think it is important to remember that SJU has to protect all their students and I believe that is what they were doing with the restraining order. I do wish they would give more financial aid toward the search, but I do understand and agree with there position on the restraining order. "

9/1/04 -- Message #2249
How come St. John's Abbey wouldn't allow the police to enter the Abbey shortly after it was discovered Josh was missing?

9/1/04 Hope Message #2248
I just found this site through a link at the Project Jason site. I have spent the last few hours reading every post. Josh, his family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. My heart broke with every post Katie made. I am so sorry you have all had to deal with the not knowing for so long. I hope that through the "adopt a missing person" site and others like it, you are able to find some support, if not the answers you so truly deserve. Hope.

8/31/04 anonymous Message #2247
How could there be any EVIL person on campus?

8/31/04 anonymous Message #2246
Well Anonymous what you need to understand is that even if a priest wasn't involved the Abbey continues to DENY that abusive priests are wrong. Also the reputation of a football team (translation=$$$$) is at stake if the cat was let out of the bag.

8/31/04 Anonymous Message #2245
ok, i live on a college campus, and i don't care how large or small it is, how light or dark it is or what time of day or night it is...SOMEONE would have seen or heard SOMETHING...there is no way that there is not one single person at that university who didn't see or hear anything....i don't know why people are trying to sweep the issue under the carpet hoping that everyone will eventually just forget about this, but i think it is horribly tragic and sad that the people who know what really happened that night are keeping thier mouths shut for fear of whatever...retaliation???? do the right thing....come forward....

8/31/04 -- Message #2244
Honestly, I think there are some people who have a strong hunch as to who the perpetrator might be -- and I pray to God they have been investigating and doing the research necessary to acquire enough evidence to make a charge. I cannot believe there aren't any suspects -- in fact I don't believe that. It's a shame that so many of us who care and who are doing what we can must be left in the dark. However, the absence of information will not defeat our spirits nor cause us to stop looking for our friend...no worries, Josh, we'll find you - with or without the help of St. John's

8/30/04 AnAnoMus Message #2243
St. Johns isnt helping becasue they are too busy shredding papers and burning files. those secret handshake Bass Turds. I think St. Johns should be held accountable, Joshua was a student there and they choose to play the roll of the petter ass academy

8/30/04 Anonymous Message #2242
No can really answer why the college isn't doing more to support the search for Josh, except the college itself. Maybe it's a question that could be posed to admin by students or in the Record. It would be nice if the college aided financailly in the investigation and offered their full support to Josh's family. Wonder why they aren't helping find a student that disappeared from their grounds? I'm so glad students are still asking questions and looking for Josh, even after his class graduated last May. Keep looking for answers. Keep looking for Josh.

8/30/04 -- Message #2241
Thanks for all your comments thus far. I realize we're not supposed to point fingers at a specific individual(s) -- I'm just trying to get a sense for what people are thinking. I tend to agree that it was a younger rather than older male -- someone affiliated with the college in some capacity. I don't think this was a random crime, I somehow think it was planned. What makes this person think they're going to get away with this...because we are not going to stop until we find out the truth

8/30/04 CSB 1st yr student Message #2240
Why hasn't anyone answered my questions?

8/30/04 anon Message #2239
...doubt it was anyone as obvious as Dahmer but someone with a sexual attraction toward males

8/30/04 anon Message #2238
My guess is it was an adult male in his 30's who knows the campus well and the general coming and going of the students. Doubt it was a priest however. Probably another adult hoping the priests would be blamed!

8/30/04 -- Message #2237
"Question to all: In your opinion, do you feel the person(s) responsible for Josh's disappearance is/are his age, a repeat criminal offender(s), someone no one would suspect, someone directly associated with SJU, a student, someone indirectly associated with SJU, someone Josh knew -- your thoughts please? Thank you in advance... ... we'll find you Josh..."

8/29/04 Anonymous Message #2236
Dear CSB 1st year student: On the bright side, no girls or women have been abducted in the area, only boys. (Before Josh, Jacob Wetterling was kidnapped at gunpoint about a mile away, and a few months before Jacob 12-year-old Jared was abducted in nearby Cold Spring, assaulted, and fortunately let go). But this does not mean that women should drop their guard. Remember the safety rules you learned at home and if programming on campus does not fully address the issue, visit the Jacob Wetterling Foundation across the street from campus. They're very helpful and excellent at what they do. A true blessing from Heaven in the community.

8/29/04 CSB 1st year student Message #2235
It is creepy walking around on this campus as a newcomer knowing what probably happened. Why doesnt the university spend money helping to find Josh rather than running fancy ads in the Star Tribune? Why are they trying to obstruct the investigation by paying lawyers to stop Josh's dad?

8/29/04 -- Message #2234
Whoever was involved in Joshua's disappearance, you can face the music now or continue hiding...but know this...eventually, the truth will out...because, we will never, ever stop looking

8/29/04 Anonymous Message #2233
Without conscience. That's the whole point. Kicks, not conscience.

8/28/04 -- Message #2232
It won't come as any surprise that someone on the SJU campus knows where Joshua is -- may their conscience nag them until they tell the truth...we won't stop looking for you, Joshua

8/27/04 Aubs Message #2231
Student: Someone on campus knows where Josh's corpse is located!!

8/27/04 anon Message #2229
What's happening?--new searches planned?--it appears this case has reached a DEAD END due to legal stalling on the part of SJU

8/27/04 SJU student Message #2228
Any new information on the English Professor's involvement in Josh's disappearance?

8/25/04 Louise Message #2227
"My thoughts and prayers are with you. ... Keep your Faith strong!"

8/25/04 David Message #2226
Just wanted you to know that I maintain Joshua's poster in ten high visibility locations on the 5th floor at the AT&T Tower in downtown Mpls. Joshua is not forgotten.

8/20/04 -- Message #2225
Anonymous, thank you!!! Finally, there is news of progress being made. Thank you for sharing this information, and please keep us updated as you can. Meanwhile, there are many of us watching, praying, searching, analyzing and most of all -- believing -- that we will someday see the day when we can finally bring Joshua home. Joshua, we will find you

8/19/04 Anonymous Message #2224
Concerning earlier discussion about further searches: The team engaged in this project determined that searching the general area close to the location where Josh was last seen is not a priority. Investigative analysis revealed that Josh was taken to a location some distance away. The next step will involve outside expertise in concert with publicity in national television and print media. The arrangements are in place, but will not proceed until Josh's family gives their approval. As you may know, there is a pending court case that could have a bearing on the future direction of the search and the specific tools to be employed in the effort.

8/19/04 - Message #2223
Thanks to everyone who has been posting lately. I just have to believe answers will someday come. There's nothing we can do to restore the life Josh had...but we can help to make sure his legacy remains...a remembrance of who he was and the impact he has had...and most of all...to show him that we never gave up on him...and to show God we never lost faith in His ability to give hope when so little could be found...

8/19/04 Kevin Message #2222
Re: "I have heard absolutely nothing about this case since Spring ... so I would love to know what lines you found to read between." On 5/6/04 KARE 11 reported this with reference to Jacob (most likely linked with Josh): "Investigators are very confident they will finally solve it." Rick Kupchella then added: "There are a few very specific suspects, and those suspects know who they are, they know they are suspects" and "Authorities may be on the verge of identifying the man who kidnapped Jacob Wetterling." About a month later, someone in the Twin Cities familiar with aspects of the investigation named three suspects. Discussions with other sources suggest that the investigation has entered the prosecutorial phase. Also, if you think about it, the most plausible reason for the media’s silence in this matter is that they have been asked by law enforcement to refrain from commenting on progress in the case, so as to avoid public hysteria and undue adverse impact on innocent entities.

8/19/04 anonymous Message #2221
Any more info on the English professor and his connection to Josh's disappearance?

8/19/04 mysteryman2 Message #2220
Several months ago there was discussion about further summer searches on SJU grounds--WHY have these not occurred?

8/19/04 .. Message #2219
Good post, Kevin, thank you. It could well be that certain walls of power might have to be knocked down to get to the truth. That's where tenacity comes in. Then, too, is the issue of connections and money...these, also, can pose formidable obstacles in the quest for justice. Fortunately, God's power and strength is greater than man's -- and that's why I believe that someday, we will know what happened to Joshua. Joshua's accomplished, albeit short, life -- and his tragic disappearance -- will not be in vain. The layers of lies will be uncovered and light will shine in the darkness. Joshua, wherever you are, we are with you in spirit and we will never be done searching til you are finally found

8/19/04 Nick Message #2218
I too hope that Kevin is correct. We all can only hope that the authorities will be able to figure out what happened to Josh. I, along with the rest of Josh's friends and family, still miss him every day. I can't even imagine what it must be like for people like the Wetterlings.

8/19/04 Kevin2 Message #2217
Kevin, your post caught my attention... I sure hope what you say is true. I live and work in St. Joe and drive thru SJU campus at least once a week. I have heard absolutely nothing about this case since Spring when the mounted police made another search, so I would love to know what lines you found to read between. The only activity I've noticed is that Mystery Man is no longer on this site. Can you share what you know?

8/19/04 Kevin Message #2216
'..' I don't think "the proverbial brick wall" is at the sheriff's office. Let's face it, it would be a feather in their cap to solve the Wetterling/Guimond case and will give them a national profile in the law enforcement community. Reading between the lines, this case is essentially solved. However, the burden of proof for successful prosecution is very high in a circumstantial case such as this. So, expect delays as the focus shifts from questioning suspects to collecting evidence and building a watertight case. But successful law enforcement requires everyone's cooperation. A good model is the case of Mark Hacking in Salt Lake City, whose own family did the honorable thing by outing him to police in the murder of his wife Lori.

Every day that I read comments on this message board, I get more and more angry. If I were ever to just dissapear into thin air, I hope to God that it would not be in Stearns County. I think some of us are scared to demand answers, as someone may get a restraining order against us. If this were your child, what would you be doing right about now? I know that I would be going crazy. Keep Hope Alive and Please, everyone, PRAY for JOSHUA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8/19/04 .. Message #2214
I've kind of had the feeling that the Sheriff and/or private citizens have been running into the proverbial brick wall in trying to obtain further information with regard to possible suspects. I wouldn't be surprised. However, I still believe tenacity and courage will scale that brick wall someday -- with God's help, of course. In the meantime, there are many of us carefully watching and paying close attention to this case. We're going to get the answers whether it's sooner or later. If you're reading this and know something, let's stick it to the man

8/18/04 Aubs Message #2213
On Sat. Aug. 14 William Albert Temple, 41, of St. Cloud, drowned in Middle Spunk Lake in Avon. According to the St. Cloud Times, the victim’s body was recovered in about 18 feet of water a little more than an hour after he disappeared. An Avon rescue team found the victim with the help of underwater cameras and the Stearns County Dive Team recovered the body. Clearly, this is a competent outfit. The reason they came up empty after many months searching a much smaller, shallower lake for Josh is obvious: He’s not in there. I don’t think investigators believe Josh is in a campus lake or low-lying area. Has anyone made any inquiries lately about the current theory as to Josh’s whereabouts? Perhaps a newspaper reporter or an elected official? If not, contact your local media or elected representatives and request accurate information. It's your right to demand answers and their civic duty to seek the truth.

8/18/04 .. Message #2212
''"Stearns County authorities have said it's most likely that Guimond either fell into one of the lakes on the St. John's campus or is in a low-lying area. But several searches, including one by an underwater-search team, have failed to find him.'' How many more years must pass before Stearns County Sheriff makes any progress on this case? It is pitiful ... "

8/17/04 Greg Message #2210
Well, we have all moved to our seperate locations after graduation josh, a graduation that you should have been a part of. Life is just not the same anymore without you around, there will always be something missing. To this day, stearns county gets phone calls on a regular basis...and they will until we find out what happened. We miss you Josh!

8/17/04 .. Message #2209
Attractive, personable college boy goes missing on a college campus that houses known sex offenders and pedophiles. That this didn't send up a red flag *immediately* to the sheriff's department and everyone else in the community is odd to me -- because I'll tell you what -- it's the *first* thing that a good many of us thought about. Every day I pray there are people in that community who have the courage, tenacity, perseverence and faith in God to keep pursuing the answers -- besides Mr. Guimond and his family. It's a daunting task -- to get through the layers of lies and go toe to toe with the powers that be -- but it can be done and it must be done. Joshua, someday the truth will be known ... we will never give up on finding out what happened to you

8/16/04 Marie Message #2208
"Just like everyone else not a day goes by when we don't wonder where is Josh. We miss our cousin dearly and just wish the answers would come out. That very someone who knows what happen must be living a horrible life with the thought of so many still worried. IF that someone had half a heart they would come forward and tell our family some information. I still believe that his disapperance has something to do with the lovely shchool which he attended. ... We do love you Josh and think about you each day. One day you will be brought home because you do not have a family of quitters and we will find the answers if it takes until the day we all pass. ... Marie"

8/11/04 Kate Message #2207
Josh..I've been thinking about you a lot lately. I guess it's not just lately, a day doesn't go by when I don't think about you and pray for you and miss you like crazy. Love you..
