Remember that many people are praying for Josh and family. Prayer is very powerful. I continue to pray for all of you . . . keep the faith.

10/13/04 susan orzula Message #2357
" Just wanted to write a quick message to say many thoughts, prayers and much Love have been lifted up for Josh and the whole family. You have done all that is humanly possible. So now may you find peace in the fact that the rest is in HIS hands. ... Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1. Believing with you that Josh will be found, and very soon. ... Peace and Love, ... Sue ... "

10/7/04 Anonymous Message #2355
I myself never knew Josh. But I am really close to some friends of his. All I want to say is that we all need to keep hope. Josh is out there and we all have to continue to think postively. No one can give up...remember to keep hope alive and Live each day as if it were your last.

10/7/04 Kevin Message #2354
Tonight on Fox News Channel's "On the Record," Greta Van Susteren asked Brian if there were any missing people from the area besides Josh. The answer is Yes -- Jacob Wetterling.

10/7/04 Cynthia Pape Message #2353
Our thoughts and prayers are with Josh and your family.

  Me, too.

10/7/04 Anonymous Message #2351
I don't know Joshua personally. But I know a thing or two about hope. Keep the ember burning. I will do the same.

10/5/04 Joshs Dad Message #2350
The harassment restraining order St. Johns has against me is again suppose to be in court October 15 at 1.30 pm. For anyone interested, but i will be amazed if they do not come up with yet another way to stall this matter. As we all know the 5 students they brought this on for graduated last spring. What is the point, other than hindering my investigation, they say they are cooperating fully with Stearns County Sheriffs Dept., but they cant even return my phone calls, when i call to get an update.

10/2/04 Jill B. "findcarrie" Message #2349
I just wanted to say that I look in to see if there is any updates on Josh's case three to four times a week. I have Josh linked and posted on my site for Carrie Culberson. You all feel free to come join us and post anything you want to pertaining to Josh. This young man deserves to be found. I am thinking of you all during this difficult time. I also wanted you to know that you've done a great job on this website for Josh.

10/1/04 Cathy Creswell Message #2348
"One of my dearest friends in the world is Deb Landers who has told me about Joshua. I just want you to know I am praying for you to find him, and for you all to have the strength you need to keep the faith and to face every day. I will remain hopeful and say a prayer every day for Joshua. Cathy ... "

10/1/04 Julia Message #2347
I didn't know Josh at all, I barely remember his dad, but I did know his grandma Marge and his uncle Paul very well. I just want you to know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. My heart just breaks for you.

10/1/04 Anon Message #2346
Not trying to be cynical, but hope and prayers aren't going to find Josh. It's going to take searches and leads and new ideas and keeping the public's interest and digging deeper into dead ends and squeaky wheels to bring Josh home. Thank you for providing this message board, I hope your family gets closure soon. The people who post here are trying to help that happen. God Bless.

9/30/04 Kevin Message #2345
"To anyone who is serious about examining Joshua's disappearance, there are several crime and justice boards you can go to instead." Could you suggest one that you prefer? Thanks.

9/30/04 Kevin Message #2344
Here's my observation ...if nobody posted here except those leaving sympathies and encouragement, there wouldn't be very many posts here. Look thru them..you'll find alot around the holidays, Josh's birthday, anniversary of his disappearance, etc. Sadly, the rest are few and far between and those are mostly from close family and friends. Whether we knew Josh or not, we all feel close to him and want him found. I spent a good part of today on SJU campus touring the Walk Through Time exhibit...I couldn't get Josh off my mind.

9/29/04 Aunt Deb Message #2343
‘Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and good things never die.’ That is what we were hoping would be imparted here…not speculation or conjecture or fear. If you have something substantive to share with this family, use the Contact Us link provided. Lisa and Brian need positive encouragement and support while they struggle with the daily reality of Joshua’s disappearance and their continuing efforts to find him. This particular avenue is provided for the public at large to offer their hope and prayers to that end. We love you Joshua. We miss you and we are looking forward to the day you return to your family. Keeping HOPE alive in MI…

9/29/04 -- Message #2342
Well, Aunt Barb, your wish is my command. I have been studying this case since Joshua first disappeared. I have spent many hours researching, gathering information and evaluating it -- all in the name of finding a clue -- a direction -- something, anything that will help find Joshua. I have written to politicians, the media, newspapers to ask for help. I'm sorry you view exchanging information and ideas as being a "chat line." I think that's an odd observation, but being as you represent the family, and the family only wants this board to express love and support, I will leave. I will be keeping Joshua in my prayers, and I wish the family comfort and hope. To anyone who is serious about examining Joshua's disappearance, there are several crime and justice boards you can go to instead. God bless you, Guimond family. Joshua, wherever you are, I will keep searching for you. St. John's University, don't think for one minute I am not watching you

9/29/04 ~ Message #2341
But I'm afraid messages of concern, support, and love won't lead us to Josh.

9/29/04 Aunt Barb Message #2340
As Josh’s aunt and one of the people to help develop this site, I have to voice my disappointment in the direction this message board has taken. It has, for some, become a chat line, full of conjecture and innuendo that may or may not have anything to do with Josh’s disappearance. The intended purpose is to provide a place for people to leave messages of concern, support and love. What we’re seeing is inappropriate and disturbing to many, including myself, who visit the site to find comfort and hope. We want the chat to stop! We love you Joshua.

9/28/04 Melissa Message #2339
I pray for your family, I do have something to say though, I know that some people deeply involved in relegion would never consider this, but has anyone ever tried using a pyshic in this case? I have much intution in myself that I use everday, and I also have consulted pyshics about things in my life. I know of a really accrucate pyshic from the cities that may be able to help. In fact this morning he was on 96.3 B96 radio station talking about death. He answered questions of how and when the callers were going to die. I know it sounds very creepy but I think it is an avenue that should be looked at.If anyone would like some more info on this please contact me. I will keep praying for the Guimond family and friends untill the end. God be with you.

9/20/04 -- Message #2337
"Why did he leave Tennessee for example?" Okay, I researched this to the extent that I could...do you know the answer to this question by chance? Not that I expect you to reveal the actual reasons here...damn this is frustrating

9/18/04 you know Message #2336
A lot of recent posts here implicate staff at St. John's. Anybody do a background check on the English professor mentioned here several months. Why did he leave Tennessee for example?

9/17/04 -- Message #2334
There are all kinds of people who read this message board...and some of them may not be on our side. This is why I feel the need to protect my identity, but I can't speak for anyone else. I imagine, though, there are other people as well who are fearful of possible repercussions. I am sorry this offends you

9/16/04 Joshs Dad Message #2333
What is the big secret about not putting your name when leaving a message? This is not a chat line.

9/16/04 -- Message #2332
"Almost two years have passed since Joshua has gone missing ... what progress has really been made? Perhaps it's time to cut to the chase and demand answers -- because in the hands of man, truth can be an elusive thing -- disrespected and buried in deception. ... But Anonymous, I believe pursuing truth in the name of an innocent victim is always a worthwhile endeavor -- no matter how high the wall of lies and secrets is -- no matter how daunting and yes, even intimidating"

9/16/04 Anonymous Message #2330
Right you are, --. Can be done, amigo, but need family's assent, consent, approval, authorization or blessing. Can’t act against the will of Josh's mom and dad.

9/16/04 -- Message #2329
Anonymous -- you sound like a person who will keep searching for the truth, the same way Joshua would keep searching -- I hope you can continue to make headway into what happened to Josh. Meantime, I still wonder if Patrick Wall would consider lending some insight and help. I have written all the authorities mentioned ... but you know ... there are certain hurdles only someone with particular connections and experience can overcome -- what do you think?

9/16/04 -- Message #2328
"Ironically, despite his careful planning and evasive maneuvers, the alleged offender effectively left a calling card with his exact name and location." Okay then -- I presume the possible abductor was able to commit this crime without leaving hard evidence behind -- making the case one of circumstantial evidence. Is it too much to hope that the person obsessively checking the newspaper has been thoroughly investigated and questioned

9/16/04 -- Message #2327
"In answer to answer the other question, Josh was in an upbeat mood the day of his disappearance. He was neither depressed nor suicidal. And by the way, it’s kind of hard to commit suicide and hide your own body at the same time. Why on earth would anyone want to do that?" It's more a question of whether something was going on in a person's life that was troubling them far more than anyone could realize -- and the person finds a secluded location to leave this world. I am intimately familiar with this kind of circumstance. Having said that -- really -- I do not think this is what happened to Josh, though I have researched several cases where such was the case. Josh's case is different -- very different -- just had to ask the question to cover all the bases

9/16/04 -- Message #2326
"different set of dogs was reportedly brought in on Monday afternoon, Nov. 11, and some of these dogs appeared to show an interest in the shallow culvert area of Stumpf Lake adjacent to the causeway onto campus" Rather than Josh having "fallen" or otherwise gone into that lake, perhaps he was lifted onto the perp's shoulder there ? -- though I wonder about that because of Josh's physical size -- but-- wouldn't the dogs still have been able to follow Josh's scent? Someone suggested in an earlier post several months ago that the perp may have known how to disguise Josh's scent -- no doubt whoever did this did some research prior to the crime -- and I think, this wasn't the first time

9/16/04 -- Message #2325
"The lone offender would have used a ruse to con Josh to an area controlled by the offender, where Josh would then have been entrapped and restrained before transporting him to a distant location. The offender’s whereabouts much of Sunday would be unknown." Well stated, Anonymous, and I agree with you. Next question: has an investigator done a thorough questioning of any and all professors, monks, students and employees on the St. John's campus and abbey

9/15/04 Anonymous Message #2324
One more thing. Not only would the offender’s whereabouts be unknown for much of Sunday, Nov. 10; he would have an elaborate alibi that cannot be independently verified. Finally, if you were to check the records of the St. Cloud Times Online, you would find that the offender accessed the local news page compulsively in the early hours of the morning every day for weeks after Josh's disappearance. Ironically, despite his careful planning and evasive maneuvers, the alleged offender effectively left a calling card with his exact name and location.

9/15/04 Anonymous Message #2323
At midnight on Nov. 9, around the time Josh left the card game, the temperature was 39 degrees, with a 6 mph wind, and a mostly cloudy sky with mist. The wind died down to near-calm during the night and the temperature dropped to about 30 degrees by 4AM with mist and freezing fog throughout the night. There were brief periods of light rain during the day, mainly between 8AM and noon, amounting to only a trace. The maximum temperature on Nov. 10 was 42 degrees, with a maximum sustained wind speed of 18 mph gusting to 24 mph. In answer to answer the other question, Josh was in an upbeat mood the day of his disappearance. He was neither depressed nor suicidal. And by the way, it’s kind of hard to commit suicide and hide your own body at the same time. Why on earth would anyone want to do that?

9/15/04 Anonymous Message #2322
According to sources, tracking dogs were brought in more than 24 hours after Josh was last seen, after midnight Sunday. They did not appear to pick up any scent. A different set of dogs was reportedly brought in on Monday afternoon, Nov. 11, and some of these dogs appeared to show an interest in the shallow culvert area of Stumpf Lake adjacent to the causeway onto campus. Hoover, the private bloodhound that allegedly tracked Josh scent to the monastery weeks later is not credible. If Josh was the victim of a sex crime, there would have been no lookout, nor would Josh have been overpowered. The lone offender would have used a ruse to con Josh to an area controlled by the offender, where Josh would then have been entrapped and restrained before transporting him to a distant location. The offender’s whereabouts much of Sunday would be unknown.

9/15/04 -- Message #2321
How can the sheriff's dept. be convinced that Joshua was in fact abducted -- aside from the obvious that there are no signs of him anywhere on the campus -- what does it take for an investigating authority to change a case from "missing person" to a criminal case ... it seems like it should be a process of elimination, and since it's been determined Joshua almost certainly did not drown in any of the campus lakes ... seems like the only other alternative is he was taken against his will

9/15/04 -- Message #2320
Can anyone verify whether Joshua was suffering from any depression -- not that one can always identify this in another person -- though I do not believe Joshua would have harmed himself -- but I think it's something the authorities still maintain on their list of possiblities

9/15/04 -- Message #2319
"Yes, which is why you want to find out if there have been credible complaints against anyone in the area in the months before and after Josh vanished. ".. I have often felt that there may be people who are just plain afraid to come forward ... for fear they may jeopardize their own well being

9/15/04 -- Message #2318
Nick and Anonymous, thanks for your comments. I have to wonder whether there was more than one person involved -- someone who was a "look out" and someone who overcame Josh. Another question I have is how soon after Josh's disappearance were the tracking dogs brought in, and, did it rain during that time --- because -- if memory serves me, the dogs did not track Josh's scent very well. There was one account that a search dog tracked Josh's scent to the abbey and/or parking lot near the abbey, but I don't believe that was substantiated

9/15/04 Nick Message #2317
A small correction to Anonymous' post. The SJU football team was not playing the night Josh disappeared. They had played the previous night (Friday 11/8) against Bethel in the Metrodome. If campus was unusually desolate that night, it wasn't because of a football game. I've always been puzzled, though, by the fact that no one saw what happened to Josh.

9/15/04 Anonymous Message #2316
"... don't sex offenders usually have a history of engaging in inappropriate behavior?" Yes, which is why you want to find out if there have been credible complaints against anyone in the area in the months before and after Josh vanished. "... it still puzzles me that no one would have been walking around that campus at midnight on a weekend? That no one saw Joshua after he left that apartment?" Campus was unusually desolate that night, because the Johnnies were playing St. Thomas in the Metrodome. Coincidence? Or did a predator pre-plan to strike on that particular night? There have been unconfirmed reports that Josh was seen by a lone witness leaving the apartment and walking in the direction of the roadway onto the main campus and that multiple eyewitnesses saw someone matching Josh’s description crossing onto campus. However, there is no evidence that Josh made it back to his room. It seems he walked into the four-way intersection and vanished into thin air.

9/15/04 Anonymous Message #2315
Mr. Guimond previously appealed to us to email Sheriff John Sanner to demand answers. I hope many people have done this. One might also email the St. Cloud Times to request that they ask the tough questions. What we do CAN make a difference. CBS News has been brought to its knees by a few dedicated bloggers. With the Sheriff's Department, we're dealing with a much smaller entity.

9/15/04 -- Message #2314
"He would be the last person to arouse any suspicion. He would confide in no one, admit to nothing, and his victim would be a target of opportunity who matches the preferred victim profile in his deviant fantasies – in the wrong place at the wrong time. The only person "on the inside" would be the perpetrator himself." Very interesting insights. But I was wondering -- don't sex offenders usually have a history of engaging in inapproprate behavior, to the extent that, *someone* may have been subject to this person's advances in the past? Also -- it still puzzles me that no one would have been walking around that campus at midnight on a weekend? That no one saw Joshua after he left that apartment?

9/15/04 Anonymous Message #2313
To Josh's dad: While it certainly should be considered that Josh could have been "marked, set up, then grabbed" and that "there had to be someone on the inside" this is not the typical scenario for the type of alleged crime that likely occurred. If true, there would have to be a straight criminal motive, and there's no evidence that Josh was involved with any criminal enterprise. However, if a sex offender is responsible for Josh's disappearance, the likely suspect would be a detail-oriented, obsessively tidy loner from the area who is very familiar with the campus, extremely comfortable there, with a legitimate reason to be out and about at midnight on weekends. He would be the last person to arouse any suspicion. He would confide in no one, admit to nothing, and his victim would be a target of opportunity who matches the preferred victim profile in his deviant fantasies – in the wrong place at the wrong time. The only person "on the inside" would be the perpetrator himself.

9/14/04 -- Message #2312
Mr. Guimond -- after having reviewed the facts of this case, and having spent many a night pondering the various aspects of it, I have to say, I am inclined to agree with you. The question becomes -- how to take the investigation deeper to find the answers. Of course I don't expect you to address that here -- but that's the challenge facing all who are looking for the truth about what happened to Joshua -- may God help us

9/14/04 Joshs Dad Message #2311
There is no doubt someone at St Johns is involved. It is my understanding that people are marked, set up, then grabbed, knowing this, there had to be someone on the inside.Knowing this there was only a small group of people who knew where Josh would be that night. The person or persons who set Josh up would have had to known him in some way,and be in a position to know what Josh would be doing and when.

9/14/04 -- Message #2310
Mr. Wall might be our man for finding out information pertaining to hidden sex offenders/those sent to treatment centers/possible avenues we might investigate to get some answers

9/14/04 -- Message #2309
I would have felt a lot better if the monks had let investigators into the abbey as soon as it was discovered Josh was missing...why didn't they

9/14/04 -- Message #2308
So here is the challenge -- we have a missing St. John's student -- but no evidence as to what happened to him -- apparently no one saw what happened -- at least to any of our knowledge -- and therefore we are left to speculate. In doing a thorough and in depth investigation, the one huge chunk of information we are missing are the names and backgrounds of all the monks/professors who were a part of Josh's life at St. John's in some way. This is the big hurdle -- to obtain that information -- and that's something Mr. Wall more than likely knows how to do. He has the knowledge, experience and most important of all, the *connections* to obtain this information. I honestly don't think the sheriff's dept. is equipped to go this deep or far into such a guarded and powerful institution -- you need someone who knows the ropes with the Catholic church and knows how to go about legally obtaining this information
