12/19/05 Nick Message #2796
The Star Tribune has an interesting article today at http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/5789755.html. The story is about the Vidocq Society, a group of current and former law enforcement officials who volunteer to work on cold cases. The Society is involved in the Reker case, and though there have not yet been any arrests, the family is quoted as stating that they have received some answers, at least. I seem to recall discussion of getting the Vidocq Society involved in Josh's case, but I'm not sure what came of it. This would seem to be a very useful avenue to explore.

BMW, I don't think Josh is there on that campus, do you?

12/19/05 DoubleDash Message #2794
I feel like crying when I think about Josh's Dad having to face a group of people who don't care about much except protecting their own interests. Politicians of any kind are rarely concerned about anything other than advancing their own agenda. From what I have observed, and heard, this board of supervisors, and sheriff's dept., are an extremely provincial group who, for whatever reason, have shied away from digging into this case. I have often wondered if they simply feel helping to find Joshua isn't worth their time -- or -- is there something they are afraid of? If this was one of their children, how would they be handling things? God bless you, Guimond family, those of us looking for Joshua, and looking for justice, aren't leaving.

I'm new to this site but have reviewed alot of the posts. Sounds like an inside job--have all of the professors been thoroughly investigated--who else would know the terrain and the students?

12/2/05 Deejai Message #2790
I just want to say that I think of and pray for Josh every day. I don't know him but he and his family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers until he is found. I've visited his website almost every day since I happened upon it and I get discouraged when I see that people aren't Keeping Hope Alive out loud like they used to. So, I wanted to remind everyone that Josh is still out there somewhere and I think it's important if you're visiting his site to express your hope out loud instead of just reading what others have to say. Please Keep Hope Alive for Josh!

11/24/05 DoubleDash Message #2789
Aubs, I just put the info out there in case someone wants to look at it. I'm a believer in persistent detective work, investigating theories, listening to gut instincts and not giving up. My biggest belief is in the Man Upstairs - obviously He knows what happened to Josh, so I'm relying on Him to guide us, until Joshua is found. Happy Thanksgiving one and all, let us remember the Guimond family and friends in our prayers. Lord, please give us what we need to find Joshua.

11/19/05 Aubs Message #2788
DoubleDash: I've checked out your links. I'm inherently skeptical of these alternative methodologies, because none of them has any scientific basis. However, I recognize that cases are sometimes solved intuitively. I don't believe in the existence of "psychic powers," but if that's what someone wants to call their keen intuition and "out-of-the-box" thinking, that's their business. The main risk to watch out for is charlatans whose only goal is to prey on vulnerable people for their own financial gain. Be particularly wary of unscrupulous operators who seem sincere at first and start out working free of charge, but soon hook you by raising your hopes, upon which they start demanding money to continue on the case.

11/17/05 DoubleDash Message #2787
Hello Aubs, I agree. When it comes to utilizing these alternative resources -- i.e. psychics or remote viewers -- one must be very cautious. I was hoping PSITech would offer to assist Mr. Guimond free of charge -- as a humanitarian service. I think they have done this before in other cases. It could be worth checking out. Without any willing witnesses coming forward thus far, maybe it's time to use other investigative methods. What do you think?

11/17/05 Aubs Message #2786
In ''remote viewing'' the claimant alleges a special ability to ''see'' or describe remote scenes where he is not physically present (and usually where he has never been). In the mid-70s, Russel Targ and Harold Puthoff, two physicist at SRI International’s Radio Physics Laboratory, caused a media stir when they presented research results showing that subjects were able to describe remote locations with greater than chance accuracy. However, in 1980 when David Marks and Richard Kammann, two psychologists at the University of Otago in New Zealand eliminated some control flaws from the research protocol, they were unable to replicate Tark and Puthoff’s results. In the mid-80s, University of Oregon psychologist Ray Hyman replicated Marks and Kammann's disconfirmatory findings. In short, there is no empirical support for the validity of remote viewing. Conclusion: Practitioners of ''remote viewing'' are driven by the singular motive to separate vulnerable believers from their money. If someone claims to have remote viewing ability and is willing to work pro bono, there’s probably no harm in giving it a whirl. But if they charge a fee, beat a hasty retreat. Caveat emptor.

11/16/05 DoubleDash Message #2783
''"Originally developed for and utilized by The Department Of Defense for intelligence collection purposes, Technical Remote Viewing is the trained ability to acquire accurate direct knowledge of things and events — targets — distant in time or space, in the past, present, or future, while conscious awareness remains totally ''blind'' to details about the target itself. TRV is a highly structured and standardized data collection skill. Like any other skill, practice is required to become proficient.'' I took this definition of remote viewing from the PSItech.net website -- go to www.PSItech.net for more information. I have never seen it used personally; I have read accounts of remote viewers being involved in cases such as the Chandra Levy case, among others. Perhaps if you contact PSITech, they would be willing to offer their assistance. I don't blame you for wanting to use every means available to search for Joshua. ... "

If anyone would have told me that the pain of not knowing where you are would have lasted this long, I would have never believed them. Its just not the same without you around Josh. I know I have not put messages up a lot but I read them almost everyday. You will always be thought about and prayed for, no matter what the situation. 3 years is too long Josh, come back.

Lara Yamada of UPN Fox 29 WFTC in the Twin Cities did a nice report of the three-year commemoration service on the 10 o’clock news last night. In it, she referred to Nick’s Nov. 9 message to Joshua on this message board, promising Josh that we will never stop looking. The St. Cloud Times has an article in today’s paper in which Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner is quoted as saying that Josh’s disappearance ''is classified as a missing-person case,'' but that investigators ''haven't ruled out the possibility that Guimond was abducted.'' The good news is that the unproductive drowning and sinking-into-the-mud theories have now apparently been abandoned for good. The bad news, quoting the sheriff, is that ''leads in the case have trickled to almost nothing.'' Sheriff Sanner urges ''anyone with any information that might be pertinent to the case to call his office.'' The number to call is (320) 259-3700. Please do.

I think, someday, the conscience of someone who knows the perpetrator will finally get the best of them and they will come forward. It might not happen until that person is on their deathbed, but I do think someday the answers we have sought for so long will be found. Until then...if this person is you...three years is a long time to keep such a terrible secret...do the right thing

11/9/05 Nick Message #2775
Hey Josh. Who would have thought that the nightmare would last for three years? I still think about you and pray every day that we will find you. I'm still confident that we will, and I can only hope that it's soon. You would've been very proud to see your mockers compete last weekend at Macalester. Our favorite invitational was bigger than ever, and our teams, composed mainly of new members, did very well against some top-notch competition. I know you would've enjoyed it. Don't worry, Josh, we'll never stop looking.

11/5/05 Star Message #2769
I am a senior at CSB right now. I was thinking about the nearing 3 year anniversary of Josh's disappearance when an article about him came out in the local Sartell paper. The article brought me to this website where I spent the last few hours reading over all the messages left in the past years. I remember the e-mail that we received the morning after Josh's disappearance. I remember going to the SJU campus the same day and words can not explain the atmosphere and emotions of that day. It was so sad and still is sad. I do not know Josh, but I can tell by some of the messages what kind of person he was. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends. I can't imagine the pain that you are all going through. I can not put into words the feeling I get when I read all these messages. May God send his blessings and bring Josh home!

11/4/05 Aubs Message #2768
Correct Joe. When I say "culvert" I'm referring to what's commonly called the bridge to campus. Technically, it's not a bridge because the only water flowing beneath is through a grated pipe that carries Stumpf Lake overflow into Upper Gemini Lake. The water next to the pipe is only ankle- to knee-deep. A person crossing the bridge and falling down the culvert might get knocked out if he bumps his head on the shallow rocks, but wouldn't disappear from sight in the inches-deep water in the unlikely event of a drowning. In fact, he would more likely wash up in plain sight against the grate. Your memory is accurate about the parking lot. It used to be quite poorly lit, especially toward the tennis court area surrounded by dense shrubbery that Josh would have had to pass on his way to Maur. The location of the parking lot is at the confluence of the only three exit routes from campus: south along CR 159 toward the back way out of campus; north on CR 159 to I-94; or west along Fruit Farm Road. All-in-all, a good location for a quick getaway in any of three possible directions (and no surveillance cameras at the time). Your observations are perceptive. I wouldn't waste my time looking for Josh on campus either.

11/4/05 Joe Message #2767
Aubs, when you say "culvert" do you mean the bridge? If my memory serves correct, once you cross the bridge heading to Maur, there is a large parking lot between the two...my gut feeling is that someone was waiting in a vehicle for either a) Josh specifically, or b) any young college student. People around here are so friendly it wouldn't surprise me if they asked Josh for directions and pulled him in the car. I assuming there are no parking lot security cameras.

11/4/05 Joe Message #2766
Hello everyone...I've been following this since the beginning and live in the area. Wow, can't believe it's been three years already. Just want to say that there's no way Josh in on that campus or in any water around campus. If he had, in fact, accidentally fallen into the water there would have been some sign of him by now, or of a shoreline disturbance. Nothing...not a shoe, not a stitch of clothing, nothing. Therefore he obviously left campus that night, not in his own vehicle though...obviously someone took him, whether he went willingly or not, someone took him elsewhere. Nobody is looking elsewhere...why not??

11/3/05 Aubs Message #2765
cobalt923 is right on the mark. The best hope we can offer Josh’s family is to view this tragedy with a clear eye and to find closure by redoubling our efforts to bring Josh’s abductor to justice. As cobalt rightly notes, this lowlife has escaped detection in part because of his ability to keep his trap shut. No need here for media attention and publicity like Wichita’s BTK. In addition, this piece of human scum has a good camouflage and blends into the community in a way that almost no one would suspect him of a crime of unthinkable depravity. As cobalt says, to achieve success our focus should be less on finding Josh and more on ''looking for people who saw or heard things on the night of the abduction but are afraid to come forward.'' So, where’s the guy behind the dumpster next to Seton who saw Josh walk past from Metten in the direction of the culvert? And what about the group of students who saw Josh cross the culvert toward the intersection at the campus entrance headed back in the direction of his room? Moreover, we need to hear from more students subjected to unwanted sexual advances from an older male around the time of Josh’s disappearance in fall 2002 – and in the preceding months and years for that matter. That trail will likely lead straight to the offender’s door.

11/3/05 cobalt923 Message #2764
As a response to several previous posts, I also find myself compelled to make a statement. Though many of the topics discussed thus far in this forum do not seem to instill hope, I feel that they are important none the less. The sharing of our combined knowledge, grim as it may be, is necessary in aiding in the capture of the individual in question. I have suspected a less than happy outcome from the beginning of this case, and am not about to change my input to instill a false sense of hope. Instead, I would say that the largest degree of hope that we can all possess is that we will find the individual in question and put an end to their damaging acts. If I offend anyone with my actions, I apologize now. However, I am unable to present myself as having any mind other than that we are dealing with an abduction, and likely one of a sexual motive.

11/3/05 cobalt923 Message #2763
I think what we all must consider is that the offender that we have in mind has likely escaped capture this far due in part to their ability to keep their mouth shut. Organized offenders have an uncanny ability to keep their deeds to themselves, though they often follow the case in the news and even revisit the scene of the crime. I feel that it would be more likely to think that we might be looking for people who saw or heard things on the night of the abduction but are afraid to come forward.

10/27/05 Aubs Message #2762
You nail it, Webmaster, but it’s more than just a matter of eyewitnesses or earwitnesses fearful or reluctant to come forward with information. Speaking about missing person cases in general: Say, hypothetically, someone disappears and hypothetically you have a known predator operating in the area – say, for example, someone contemporaneously making unwanted sexual advances toward another potential victim consistent with the missing person’s profile or demographic. In such a contingency, anyone who shields said hypothetical predator (who would be a likely suspect in the missing person case) or anyone who knowingly aids or abets such a person or persons through acts of commission or omission, exposes him- or herself to considerable legal jeopardy.

10/26/05 DoubleDash Message #2761
Yes, Mr. Guimond, Joseph Morse from GA Tech. If you do a google search on his name, you will find his case was solved a little over a year ago. It took several years to unravel what happened. And a lot of prayers.

10/26/05 Webmaster Message #2758
Remember... There is more then just the person(s) that did the crime. There are those that may have witnessed something. There are perhaps family members or friends of the criminal who may know something... Any and/or all can come forward! This increases the chances by a bunch. It just takes one of these with a heart big enough and a conscious to clear to make this all end.

10/26/05 Aubs Message #2757
DoubleDash: I think the chances that this guy is going to come forward and confess is zero to none. After 23 years, he's not about to come crawling out of his hole and spill his guts. However, that is no reason for us to throw our arms up in despair. The truth will ultimately prevail. The most helpful thing we can do right now is to stay on top of of him and keep right on breathing down his neck.

10/26/05 DoubleDash Message #2756
"it will require someone with that last piece of info to go to the proper authorities. What everyone needs to remember is that no one owes us (the general public who views this message board) anything." Years back, there was a case of a young woman who mysteriously went missing and not a soul knew what happened to her. Five years later, on the anniversary of her disappearance, a man came forward and confessed his involvement in her disappearance. What triggered him to come forward was an article in a local newspaper that was published on the anniversary of her disappearance. I never forgot that. I have always believed there is someone reading this board who knows something important. As you said, that person owes us nothing...but...maybe someday, something that person reads here, might -- just possibly -- inspire them to come forward. Would it be better for those of us trying to figure out what happened to just close the door and turn the lights off when we leave? All we have left now is people who care. That's not a bad thing -- neither is seeking the truth and searching for answers. Crimesolvers and other boards have been reviewing this case, but somehow, I feel the person we need to hear from is, and has been, here. Let us keep the door open, just in case....

10/25/05 Webmaster Message #2755
Jerry... You’re right, I don't feel they necessarily do either. They still remain, probably only because I haven't had to answer e-mails to my personal account because of them (yet). They are one of the reasons however that the login was added to the message board. My only thought about it is this, speculation is one thing, but when we start making accusations about specific people is another. Some feel that some discussion on the message board is helpful (bouncing ideas off each other and so on.) They may be right. I really do feel however, that in order to finally solve this mystery, it will require someone with that last piece of info to go to the proper authorities. What everyone needs to remember is that no one owes us (the general public who views this message board) anything. In reality, we need to turn this thought around. What WE owe Joshua, his family, and more importantly the proper officials is enough information that they can solve this case. Most of us don’t have the necessary info. But… I think someone does!

10/24/05 Aubs Message #2750
Webmaster: Regarding the apparent complaints about recent posts that induced you to pull a couple of messages -- I note one of those was a message suggesting I’m part of some conspiracy or cover-up. Just so it’s clear, I’m not the one who complained. I’m just wondering who would be so sensitive to that notion. Anyone honestly trying to get to the bottom of this should expect some hard knocks and intimidation. It comes with the territory but it’s not a deterrent. Speaking of showing Joshua parents and friends that we support their efforts, I’d like to remind the community of the prayer service on Thursday, November 10 at 6 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Maple Lake to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of Josh’s disappearance. I have not heard of any similar events at St. John’s University. Now that Josh’s peers have all graduated and moved on, it’s much harder to Keep Hope Alive on campus.

Hello BMW, are you in any way making a link with the boy who went missing in Peppersauce Canyon in the late '70's? Just wondering.

10/22/05 BMW Message #2746
Not to worry, DoubleDash. I'm on my post. Our investigation has taken us to Peppersauce Canyon Arizona, San Carlos California, Toronto Canada, and back where it all began. A revelation is at hand. Thank you for your patience.

10/22/05 DoubleDash Message #2745
My light is on, but my heart is heavy. Ever sit and look through the National Center for Missing Children and Adults...I realize some of these people may have "disappeared" on their own, but I think a fair number met with foul play. How can people just vanish into thin air, and yet, that's how it often appears. It distresses me to know that there are perpetrators out there living their lives, and no one has a clue that they've done something terrible. I wish more Americans would take the time to view the pictures of those who are missing, I believe some would be found. It was after viewing one of those sites that I chose a couple of missing persons to focus on -- to think about, pray for, and look for. I resolved one of those cases, now there are three left -- and they are daunting. But -- you can never give up. I figured out what happened to Joe Morse, but I'll never give up searching for Joshua, Michael and Suzanne.

As we approach the third anniversary of Josh's disappearance, also remember other missing boys in the area. It is reported in today's St. Cloud Times that the Jacob Wetterling Foundation has asked residents to leave an outside light on today or to light a candle to honor Jacob Wetterling, who was abducted in St. Joseph 16 years ago today, on Oct. 22, 1989. ### The online commentary to the article contains information on other young males missing from the area. It can be accessed at http://miva.sctimes.com/miva/cgi-bin/miva?Web/page.mv+1+local+976622+&PageAction=Chat (link active for 24 hours only).

Remember that the sheriff is an elected official. His bosses, the county commissioners are also elected officials. Perhaps the government officials we all should be contacting concerning the 3rd anniversary of Joshua's dissapearance live a little closer to home... If writing or calling someone is beyond what you are willing to do, perhaps hanging up some fresh Find Joshua posters and ribbons would be an appropriate thing to do to help remind everyone that Joshua remains unfound!

10/21/05 DoubleDash Message #2742
I think it's befitting to also write to Greta, Oprah, O'Riley and anyone else who will listen that November 9, 2005 marks the third anniversary of Josh's disappearance. Last year, I wrote to local politicians to ask for help in finding Josh -- someone had kindly posted the addresses and phone numbers of these people. I hope the Star Tribune prints a reminder to all that Josh still hasn't been found. I complained to my own politicians about this case and asked for help. Only one replied and his answer sounded rather vague. If the sheriff won't approach the case more aggressively, and politicans won't do anything because it doesn't benefit them personally...all that leaves is us to keep looking. I think we have to make more noise, sooner or later maybe someone in a position to help will listen. BMW, where did you go...

10/21/05 Nick Message #2741
Mr. Guimond, just to clarify, is the service this year on November 10 rather than November 9, when it has been in the past?
