4/6/04 .. Message #1828
Are there students who would state for the record that this professor has stalked/harassed them in the past? Did Joshua ever mention him, I wonder

4/5/04 Tony G Message #1826
This professor has been checked out i'm sure. Someone has probably talked to him and told him of the discussion about him on this board. So Professor do you have any comments?

4/5/04 .. Message #1825
I think SJU should pay to have the lake thoroughly searched again -- being as this is where the sheriff's dept. believes Joshua is ... even though the Trident Foundation declared otherwise -- what was the statistic they gave -- that they were 95% sure Joshua was not in any of the lakes on campus, and that they believed the police should pursue a different path in this case. But let's give the sheriff's dept. the benefit of the doubt -- let the university offer to pick up the tab for this effort -- let them put their money where their mouth is, and actively help this family. Damn, I cannot believe this is how they treat the family of a student who went missing on campus grounds

4/5/04 .. Message #1824
I can appreciate the need for students, faculty and university officials to protect and defend the reputation of their school. However, both sides of the coin must be examined. No one is advocating making false accusations. Communication, though, is necessary if any new information in this case is to be uncovered. If someone really feels this professor may have been involved with Josh's disappearance in any way, the professor needs to be checked out. With regard to the comments about the priests who are/were sexual offenders, let's face it, there are many people who are angry that these perpetrators have received less or no punishment compared to sexual offenders in the regular population. And people have a right to be angry -- and to question both the university and the church on the practice of shielding sexual offenders from appropriate prosecution. Their offenses are no less abhorrent than any other perpetrator ... are they?

4/5/04 KP Message #1823
"JG, ... The maturity that you exude it plain sad and to be frank, pathetic. If you knew anything about CSB/SJU, which you clearly don’t, you would know that professors take sabbatical all the time, and you would also know they are planned years in advance. The professor you insist on mentioning had planned this sabbatical for two years, and you would also know he was out of the county earlier in the semester. And your comment about the monks on that campus is just plain tasteless. Because people commit their lives to God and education you have felt the need to tarnish their name with accusations and horrible innuendo. We all want to find Josh, but carelessly throwing around names and accusations do nothing but make the writer look ignorant. I continue to hope and pray that Josh will be brought home safely, and I pray for an intelligent and informative dialogue. "

4/5/04 .. Message #1822
Second, with regard to the professor whose name keeps appearing here, I'd like to believe that a private investigator has searched into this person's past, gathered information about his whereabouts on the night in question, looked into any possibly related reports about him -- if this hasn't been done already by a private investigator, we need to start building up the search fund in order to hire a professional to do this

4/5/04 .. Message #1821
From the beginning I felt that someone, possible someone Joshua knew, lured him to go somewhere. However, if this were so, I wonder why the tracking dogs didn't pick up Joshua's scent -- or did they? I've read conflicting reports that the dogs (a) stopped at Stumpf Lake or (b) picked up Joshua's scent at other locations around the campus grounds, including near the monastery garage

4/5/04 JG Message #1820
It is interesting that the professer left the country. On the other hand, does anyone have a clue as to how many monks that are living on campus that are considered sex offenders? WAY TOO MANY! Living right on the campus! In their own "section" on campus! Being protected by this university! It's no wonder why they want to forget about Josh! They don't want their dirty laundry spread all over town to give them a bad reputation. I find it incredibly frusterating and hard for me to deal with the fact that people and this college are covering up criminals!

4/4/04 Anonymous . . . . . . . . . Message #1819
"I agree, Tony -- Let's forget about minor alcohol consumption on campus (at least in the context of this particular case). Here's what needs to be established: ... (1) Who, if anyone, over 30 years of age has frequently been observed outdoors on campus at or around midnight on weekends in the weeks and months preceding Josh's disappearance? If foul play was involved, it's plausible that the perpetrator conducted presurveillance. ... (2) Who, if anyone, in Collegeville and surrounding communities over age 30 quit their job and/or left the area in the weeks or months following Josh's disappearance? This person, if in fact such a person exists, likely increased his alcohol consumption in the months following Josh's disappearance, closely followed the investigation, and showed signs of stress. ... [Continued on post below] ... "

4/4/04 Anonymous . . . . . . . . . Message #1818
"[Continued from above post] ... (3) Do any male students on campus recall being approached by a person, known or unknown to them, requesting their assistance late at night in the weeks or months preceding Josh's disappearance? Rendering such assistance would have required accompanying such a person, if there is such a person, to a secluded area over which this person (if he exists) had full control. A vehicle may or may not have been involved. If Josh was abducted, the abductor would arguably have used a con or ruse, exploiting the student's charity and trust. It's plausible that he also would have conducted one or more trial runs or ''dress rehearsals'' to fine-tune his operation, if in fact any such operation existed. ... If the shoe fits, who, if anyone, is wearing the shoe? ... "

4/4/04 Tony G Message #1817
I don't believe the alcohol was a factor in Josh's disapearance, so I don't think who provided it matters. Anyone can get the booze if they want it on a campus. If they went around inforcing minor consumption on campus, they wouldn't have time to do anything else. That would give them even less time to do nothing to help find Josh..

4/4/04 anonymous Message #1816
Just think if SJU Life Safety and Stearns Co. Sheriff had enforced minor consumption laws on the campus Josh might never had disappeared!! His fellow students were also irresponsible! Who provided the alcohoL???????

4/3/04 Anonymous Message #1815
As long as this case remains unsolved, the university will bear a stigma of not being a safe place to send kids to college ... I think it would be beneficial for the school's reputation to make a greater effort to help find Joshua

4/3/04 Anonymous Message #1814
If nothing else, I would think SJU would continue doing everything in its power to support the Guimond family, given that their son disappeared on the grounds of the university. The fact that the disappearance happened at all is horrible enough -- but the university's refusal to provide further financial assistance and support for the family to search for their son is really abysmal

4/3/04 ... Message #1813
Frankly I, too, was surprised when doing research on this case to discover this professor had gone on sabattical about the time Josh turned up missing. Let us hope a private investigator is exploring this lead -- even though this man has left the country.

4/3/04 anon Message #1812
Please clarify something for me--if Josh was under 21 and drinking when he disappeared was anyone charged with providing alcohol to a minor--isn't SJU responsible if alcohol was provided while he was on their property??

4/3/04 anonymous Message #1811
I find it interesting that this English prof who was allegedly stalking students prior to Josh's disappearance would suddenly leave the country!!

4/2/04 Anonymous Message #1810
This particular professor's name has been mentioned on several occasions on this board -- so I am assuming his alibi has been checked out

4/2/04 ,, Message #1809
I'd like to believe a PI has looked into this professor's "sabbatical" in terms of the timing of Josh's disappearance, and whether Josh knew him, etc.

4/1/04 anonymous Message #1808
it is unlikely that the English professor has been "checked out"--he has been out of the country

3/30/04 Anonymous Message #1804
Joshua, we will never give up looking for you.

3/30/04 Anonymous Message #1803
At least there is some renewed attention now being focused on these strange disappearances. Let us hope and pray some answers are found -- for all who are lost and for those who grieve for them.

"i found this site through a link in Dru's site- never underestimate the power of linking on the internet. do what you can to keep his name out there- i know it's hard, but people like me will come across it and you never know will find it next. maybe someone who can actually HELP, instead of just wishing you well. all my best. ... xoxox"

3/30/04 Mom Message #1801
Josh, Another student has gone missing with out a trace. This is happening far to much. We can only hope and pray that she, along with you, will be found safe. I am very tired today. I can't seem to sleep. I am trying to think of new things to do to keep your name and face out there. It is such a sad and depressing thing to do. I feel so guilty sometimes because I don't think I am doing enough. I miss you so much.As always everyday I pray that will be the day we find you. So many people care and are helping to keep the pressure on to find you. I don't think we can count on law enforcement or the college though. Hopefully I am wrong but somehow I doubt it. Know that I love you and we will not give up. Love Mom

3/30/04 .. Message #1800
Joshua was a bright, intelligent, ambitious young man, he had so much to offer this world ... it is heartbreaking to think the community in which he lived could just let his memory fade ... while his parents and a handful of friends struggle to find answers about what happened to him. Joshua is a treasure to his family and an example of how any parent would love their child to be -- a young man driven to achieve his full potential. Please, we cannot let the struggles of his parents be in vain, all must pull together to pledge anew to find this young man

3/30/04 .. Message #1799
What a beautiful message, Hannah. I hope people can find it in their hearts to renew their motivation to help find Joshua. I know people go on with their lives ... but Joshua's disappearance will forever haunt our souls until we know we've done everything we can to find him. I'm very disappointed in SJU. It seems the college arbitrarily decided when efforts to find Joshua should stop. These efforts should never stop. I find the behavior of the people who run this college cold and arrogant. They need our prayers, because surely their hearts have become hardened as demonstrated by their breathtaking lack of compassion

3/29/04 Hannah (Continued) Message #1798
In light of this tragic news I not only challenge the community of SJU and CSB to not only give support and prayers to the family and friends of the young girl from Madison, but also to once again come together as a community and figure out a way of being proactive in the search for Josh. We all love and miss you very much Josh, and all those that care very much for you will not stop searching until you are found.

3/29/04 Hannah Message #1797
After hearing about the events at UW-Madison I was very sad to know that this awful trajedy has once again happened to a poor innocent student. I am happy to see how the school and community are coming together to find this poor girl. Then I was forced to ask myself, why isn't the community of SJU and CSB still working as a team to search for one of their own. Josh is still missing and there should be no reason that we should stop coming together as a community, a community which we are so known for, to search for him. I mean there are only a few faded fliers that remain on campus, when really there should be fliers all over the place, constantly reminding people that Josh is still missing and we should leave no stone unturned until he is brought home.

3/29/04 Inon Message #1796
"In a public statement released earlier today, Austin Evans, Chair of Student Government at UW-Madison, appealed to the UW student body to ''work together to help a fellow student; just as much as we would need aid if it were one of us missing.'' ''Our hearts go out to Audrey Seiler, a fellow UW student who has been missing since early Saturday morning, and our sympathies go out to Audrey’s family and friends during this troubling ordeal. It saddens us that a fellow student is in dire times, and we hope that Audrey can be found soon. ASM will do what we can as a student government to aid in her search. Has St. John's student government been equally forceful in rallying the CSB/SJU college community in the search for Josh? The time for strong, visionary, fearless leadership is now. ... "

3/29/04 . Message #1795
How does someone just disappear, and even trained tracking dogs cannot find them ...

3/29/04 I-man Message #1794
"Twenty-year-old UW-Madison student Audrey Ruth Seiler of Rockford, Minn. (near Maple Grove, northwest or Minneapolis) vanished this weekend under circumstances reminiscent of Josh's disappearance: No specific evidence of foul play, but highly suspicious. ... Provost Spear and Chancellor Wiley of UW-Madison announced that ''the university is doing everything it can to assist the Seiler family and to aid the investigation of campus and city of Madison police.'' They also called on the university community to ''come together to provide police with any information that might be helpful in their investigation.'' ...   Easter is the season of hope and miracles. I hope that the answer to many prayers will finally come, and that Joshua will be found. Lord, give us the strength to be faithful when the situation looks futile; to keep believing in Your mercy. I pray for the Guimond family, that You would ease their burdens and help them find their precious son at long last.

3/29/04 ... Message #1792
I pray there are some stand up people in Josh's community who will support and encourage the Guimond family in their quest for the truth. Mr. Guimond will need all the support he can get when he is forced to return to court to fight for his need to look for his son

3/29/04 ... Message #1791
St. John's has turned its back on one of its own students because it wants to get rid of the negative publicity Josh's disappearance has had on the school. The flaw in the school's thinking, however, is that there are people who are not going to forget -- and these people will continue to ask questions, search for answers, press for the truth and fight for what is just. St. John's will never be able to escape the public's demand for what is right

3/28/04 JG Message #1790
"I may not completely agree with the way Brian has handled himself, but Brian, MORE POWER TO YOU!!! I can't begin to imagine the pain, the agony, and the frusteration that Brian and Lisa are going though. Their one and only son.....gone, without a trace. And to be told by law enforcement that he's in the water, but the turtles ate him! When I think of that it puts me into a rage, which makes me think of how Brian and Lisa have to handle that comment EVERYDAY! And people wonder why Brian is saying what he's saying, and doing what he's doing! ... My only other thing is: why is it that St. John's wants to simply forget about Josh, and go on with life? I would think that they would do WHATEVER it takes to get one of THEIR students home. That's what Josh thought of it as, HOME. God never turns his back on anyone. So, if they are men of God, why are they turning their backs on one of their children? ... SUPPORT JOSH AND HIS FAMILY! ... I love you Josh! JG"

3/27/04 ... Message #1789
There's no way to know precisely what has or has not been checked out by the sheriff's dept. I believe they told the Guimond family a while ago that they would no longer give them information related to the case because "it would hamper the investigation." Meanwhile, if any progress has been made by the school or the sheriff's dept. in terms of resolving Joshua's disappearance, no one knows about it ... least of all Joshua's family.

3/26/04 Mark Message #1788
I also don't think it's necessary to point suspicion at someone unfairly, I'm sure this professor has been checked out and cleared...at least I hope so. However, I find it hard to believe that Josh is still in the water somewhere; therefore, they must have been foul play involved. I tend to believe it had to be someone tied to the school or someone that Josh knew.

3/26/04 Anonymous Message #1787
Every person who is following this case and reading this board, if you really want to show support for the family, in addition to making a donation to the search fund, you can also pick up your pen and start writing to local, state and national politicians, local and national media (tv & newspapers) -- and ask for help on behalf of the Guimond family. It is up to the public to help the family keep this case in the media -- if the public doesn't care, the media won't either, let's not let that happen! If it was a friend/son/daughter/family member of ours, we would be so grateful if people did that for us, right? And what about Joshua -- think of how grateful he would be -- to know that his family is being helped and supported in this crisis

3/26/04 Anonymous Message #1786
The university also likes to proclaim its great role in helping the Guimond family find Josh -- but really -- with the financial resources of a university like this, there is no reason why they could not absorb additional costs to help the family have the lakes re-searched. After all, Stearns County sheriff has stated they believe Joshua is in one of the lakes -- and therefore -- they have not continued an investigation that would take them down other avenues. So let the lakes be searched again!! This is a human being we are talking about -- not a lost object!!

3/26/04 Anonymous Message #1785
It is a travesty indeed. Here this young college student went missing from this esteemed (and wealthy) institution -- and yet the modest donation fund had to cover the tremendous costs of the lakes being searched by the Trident Foundation. That's just wrong. In my mind, the university should be continuing to provide whatever help (and financial resources) until Joshua is found.

3/25/04 Tony Message #1784
You want to know what pisses me off? The find Joshua Fund is pretty low, and instead of being able to use the money in it to aid in the efforts to find Josh. It has to be used to hire lawyers, so that he can go look for answers. Also just so everyone knows the school did not pay for Trident, the fund did.

3/25/04 websurfer Message #1783
to whoever has done this: you may think you are getting away with something, but god sees EVERYTHNG! You will pay the consequence eventually.

3/25/04 Anonymous Message #1782
I wonder what Josh would think of his beloved institution after all that has gone on there in the time that he has gone missing.

3/25/04 .. Message #1781
''"Several witnesses were prepared to testify Tuesday to what the college contends is harassing and threatening behavior by Guimond to students and staff at St. John's.'' That's good. This way Mr. Guimond can see his accusers and recognize whom he can trust at this point. ... "

3/25/04 . Message #1780
To the students who were so afraid of Mr. Guimond they had to boo hoo to the campus security, guess what, SJU might think you played right into their hands by moving the negative spotlight from the college to the Guimonds -- but guess what, in the community and across the country, there are people who have been watching this tragedy and see the big picture. And we don't think the "scared students," or the university are the helpful parties in this case.

3/25/04 Anonymous Message #1779
Mr. Guimond, don't you worry, there are many of us backing you up. Good idea to get a lawyer to represent your family's interests. I still think it's bizarre the way people distort a situation into making the victims the "bad guys." You're not the bad guy, Mr. Guimond, you're the hero

3/25/04 Anonymous Message #1778
''"Outside court Wednesday, Guimond -- dressed in a suit coat and tie that belongs to his son -- said he was optimistic that the issue could be resolved with compromise. ''I would certainly hope so,'' he said. ''All I want is answers.'' ... ... "
