Were the monks ever interviewed? Additionally, is there any indication that any monks in service at the time in 2002 had any communication with Josh? Or, if anyone known to be in Josh's circle had communication with any monk that was servicing at the time? If there was any investigation into their community on his part there would be some shred of notes, files, recording, etc. As an astute young man going into law I'm sure he would have documented his investigations some how. Even down the basic sticky note. I don't presume to know him, but as someone who is naturally curious and tends to ask a lot of questions and investigate, I have notes spread everywhere. Notebooks, perhaps?
