Those of us who were fortunate enough to know you before this sudden notoreity, know that you had plans and dreams for yourself and your future career and were working everyday to achieve them. ... I have posted here because I believe there are people with solid information who, with enough encouragement, will come forward with what they know. I now direct my comments to those particular people ... the passing of one year since Joshua disappeared is now approaching, as you know. I know it is difficult, very difficult, for you to come forward. I want to say to you, however, that if you never do anything helpful again in your life, please find it within yourself to do this one thing. Joshua needs you, and you know it. I have been praying for Josh without ceasing, and you know and I know that God hears our prayers. I am asking you to take that one bold, life changing step, and come forward. I am praying for you, too. My heart is focused on getting to the truth of what happened to this wonderful young man. I know there are some who are reading this who can help. Will you? I am in your corner, praying for you, always |

The information in the posts was forwarded to Joshua's family and then the post was removed. Please read the information about the appropriate places to post names and tips. It can be found on the page where you fill out the message form. Naming names, and posting tips here could actually hurt an ongoing criminal investigation. If you really want to help Joshua and his family, please post responsibly. If you have any information specific to Joshua’s case, please use any one of the methods on the Contact Us page to send this information to Joshua’s family and proper authorities. You can remain anonymous. Joshua’s family would appreciate any tips submitted in this way! |

To the anonymous poster. It seems to me that if you have any info on Josh you would just come forward to the family and tell us what you know. As I have read all the postings I still know no more today than 1 year ago. Are you trying to tell us that there is something going on on campus that many people know and won't come forward with? If you are so concerned with finding the truth then let the family know what you know. Ther is a family info link on the site. No one said you should quit posing on the board that was your decision. I asked Josh once why he would want to be a politician because so many are so bad. His answer was there have to be some good ones that really fight for what the people want. What the family wants is someone brave enough to come forward and tell us the truth so we can find Josh. Is anyone out there brave enough. I wonder. |

Hello Tara, my intention has never been to upset anyone, least of all Josh's family. Since that seems to be the case, though, I will discontinue searching for answers and information in this place. In parting, I will say that hope alone will not bring answers to the painful question of what happened to Josh. If that were so, what a wonderful world this would be. I had assumed this board was a forum to find truth, which, as I am sure you know, can often be an arduous and troubling task. To SJU, don't let my departure from this board lead you to think my efforts to find the truth about Josh have ended. To all who fear reprisals for speaking the truth, think of Josh. There are other places you may feel more comfortable sharing what you know. Please find those forums, be brave, and come forward. Josh, I will never stop looking for the truth of what happened to you |

I am a Master's student at SJU and I have been trying to keep up with the story on Josh. I come on this web-site often and read the wonderful and heart-felt messages that Josh's family and friends leave him and I think that you are all so amazing, strong, and hopeful! I pray for his friends and family each day. I also keep Josh in my prayers. I hope that someday Josh will return home or answers will surface. I guess my question to the person who keeps writing anonymous entries is if the family thinks that you are abusing the purpose of this message board, why must you continue to write back and defend yourself? Respect their wishes and their requests! I can't even imagine how difficult this is for them and it's almost like you are trying to pick a fight with them to show them that you are right. Give it a rest and allow this message board to be a place where hope is kept alive! |

I think there are people reading this website who would like to come forward with information but are reluctant to do so -- and since I have delved further into this case, I see why. What are the facts? Who has the facts? The people who possess the facts have thus far been unwilling to provide them, and it occurs to me after reading this message board that posters have a right to feel apprehensive. I was sincerely hoping this message board would be a conduit for opening lines of communication, especially for those who have been afraid to speak out. Who wants to get scolded, minimized, or demeaned for sharing their thoughts about Josh? That is unfortunate. I pray for you and your family, Josh. Only courage and determined effort is going to find you; denial and fear will allow darkness to veil the truth. Good luck in the search, may truth be victorious |

Josh, almost 1 year has gone by and still no sign of you. It still seems like it can't be real, but unfortunately the nightmare continues. Everyone is still doing everything we can think of to find you and keep the word out. I think about you constantly and pray that you are okay. I will let people know what events will take place for the 1 year deal when I have all the info. If anyone else has things going on please feel free to post it on this message board. I love you Josh. This website was set up for people to be able to write to Joshua. Also to obtain any info that will help us find him. Speculation and innuendo about the university, i feel, does not do this. The university has it's problems and this has been in the papers. This is fact. If you have leads or actual proof of who was involved with Josh's abduction, please let the family know. This website is not here to air SJU's dirty laundry. I do agree that they could be doing more to help. The fact that they have taken down the flyers is very upsetting to me. To other parents of SJU kids remember if your child goes missing from there, the university will claim they have done everything they can, and then they will take down all the posters and whatnot like it never happened. |

To "A Johnny Mom," it was encouraging to see your post today. The best way I can think of responding to your post is to recommend that you begin doing research. You are aware there are people who have concerns about SJU and its circumspect attitude toward Josh's disappearance. Maybe it's time to start digging -- talking to people who have been associated with the university -- not just university officials but others who have knowledge of SJU's history. I have been hoping, and I still hope, that anyone with potentially helpful information would feel safe to bring it here. Unfortunately there have been posts discouraging people from saying what they know. I would hate to think that someone who might have spoken up has changed his/her mind because of those discouraging posts. This is not a time to knock people down for speaking what's in their hearts and offering whatever help they can. It's a time to be bold for a young man who cannot speak for himself. |

I have frequently visited the message board to see if any progress is being made in finding Joshua. Unfortunately it appears none has. I am becoming increasingly concerned by the posting that indicate that SJU monks or staff may have some involvement. We have spoke to our son regarding whether he feels safe on campus. He is frustrated at the lack of apparent concern and effort by SJU but does not feel threatened. If there is merit to the accusations that are being posted I would hope the posting individual would be forthright in the reasoning for the accusations. I am sure I am not the only parent that has these concerns. I would also encourage SJU to make more of an effort in helping find out what happened to Joshua. SJU - put the posters back up, re-establish the link to your website, please help - for Josh's sake and the sake of your student body. |

Hello Bob, I wanted to offer a few ideas for ways you might help. The first is to help draw attention to the case by contacting the senior politicians in your community and voicing your concern. The second is by contacting media at both the local and national levels to ask for further investigation into the case. I know this has been done, and is being done as we speak, but the more people who make pleas for help increases the likelihood of receiving a response. It takes a bit of effort to do this, but I'm finding that many of the politicians and news outlets will accept emails, which cuts down on having to write and mail letters. |

To Josh's Uncle Paul, thank you. Josh's case caught my attention because of the unsatisfactory way it has been handled. In my mind, there are two options left now -- grieve and give up -- or grieve and fight with everything you have for answers. Here's a word to SJU and the local police: no one's going to give up on Josh -- ever |

Hello Liz, since clearly your query is bent in my direction, I will answer. Liz, as you have read here, there is a theory being examined that the university has not been as forthcoming or as helpful in this case as it could be. I am sure you must be aware of this. With that understanding, I hope you can discern how some people with information feel they must protect themselves. Someone incorrectly suggested that some people who care about Josh consider this a game of some kind. Such grief it gives to ponder what has happened to Josh. There is a need to express information, but in a confidential way. It is unfortunate this is troubling to some. But what are the options? To remain silent? To console one another to no avail while Josh's case languishes? Among other things, I have contacted senior politicians where I live to express my disgust at how this case has been handled. I have given you my thoughts about the "fear factor" in this case. What do you think? |

In between classes today, I was thinking. I understand how people may want to hide behind a mask of anonymity if they are uncomfortable sharing information about Josh's disappearance, or feel threatened or intimidated for sharing such information. But as I read these anonymous posts, none of them have a thing to do with information relating to Josh's disappearance. So to all you anonymous posters - why do you feel intimidated or threatened to post what you do? |

"To Josh's Uncle Paul -- your wise and heartfelt words express my sentiments as well. It is exceedingly apparent that information about Josh's disappearance is out there -- but I have seen attempts on this very board to minimize, ridicule, diminish and demean people who are searching for the truth. There is only one way Josh will be found, and that is through the persistent, vocal, insistent and determined efforts of people who care. Mean spirited words have no affect on my desire to help Josh, nor on the things I am doing to help find him, nor on the prayers I offer on his behalf. The fact that some of us feel we must protect our identities speaks to a very real concern we have about our own personal safety. ... Do not allow fear and intimidation to silence the truth ... " |

Hello Catherine, I am very sorry you view my prayers as being insincere -- allow me to assure you, I am quite serious and very genuine in my concern for Josh. That you would think anything otherwise is odd to me. The mere idea that anyone would view a young man's absence as being some kind of "game" in any way, shape or form is even more disconcerting. I hope you can fathom this fact -- it doesn't take much to look at this case and see it for the heartbreaking tragedy it is. I am doing the best I can to contribute to helping this family find their son. I suggest that if you don't care for my prayers to Jesus on Josh' behalf, you ignore them. I believe Jesus is a miracle worker, and at this point, I believe it's going to take a miracle to bring Josh home. My caring and prayers for Josh will not be silenced. This board is for people who care about finding a young man who has been missing for one year. |

In looking at the messages on the website, it strikes me as strange that so many people obviously care about Josh and want to see this rectified, but very little pressure has been applied on those responsible. St. John's needs to own up to it's responsibility and help us find him, or find out what happened to him. They took that responsibility on when they accepted Josh into their college. Stearn's County has a responsibility since he went missing in their jurisdiction. The people who have the greatest responsibility of all are those who know something which will help us put this to rest. Please have the courage to come forward and do the right thing. The pain is too much, and it has not subsided with time. Be brave and you will be supported. |

Thank you for your interesting and informative post, Aubrey. I guess after one year having passed, and "no one seems to know anything," well -- I'm sure you can appreciate the frustration level. Due to the seeming apathy on the part of police and SJU university, a group who cares about Josh is working with other sources to research and verify our own particular theories. Who can really blame the students for being angry? I think they have a righteous anger, but who is listening to them? Anyone with any kind of information that may change the status of this case from cold to hot, don't be afraid, speak out! I am doing my part to help get to the truth on behalf of a good young man. Friends and students of Josh, please help. Don't be intimidated into silence by veiled threats, berating of any kind, or fear. Josh had to be brave during his ordeal, now we have to be brave for him. Don't give up |

Hello Liz. The unfortunate reality is that many people feel intimidated about speaking out in this case. What, in your own opinion, might be the underpinnings of these fears? Further, if potentially useful information is gained, what troubles you so about the anonyminity of people's posts? In my mind, the most important thing at this point is helping Josh. I am far, far more concerned about his well being and the truth about what happened to him than I am about anything else. What are your thoughts, Liz? I am happy for you that you feel comfortable identifying yourself -- that's wonderful. It's ashame, though, isn't it, that the rest of us don't have that same sense of security -- |

Someone asked the question: what would you do if phone calls weren't answered and your requests for information were met with indifference or platitudes. First, I would make so much noise, so often, and so loud, it would simply be impossible to ignore me. Second, I'd circulate a petition and get everyone who cares about Josh to sign it. The petition would say: "It has been one year since Josh suddenly vanished from his college campus. Not enough is being done to find him." Then I'd send the petition to local and state politicians and beg for help. SJU needs a strong student organized protest to demand more attention to this case. SJU needs to understand it is NOT okay to let this matter go -- and furthermore, the people who care about Josh will NOT let it go. There is no end to the efforts I would put forth to find him. I am doing what I can on my end. If we all keep searching for the truth, I believe we will find it. Friends of Josh, please help ... Josh deserves it |

We are planning things to do around the one year anniversary and on the anniversary itself. I'm not sure if you are wondering about on campus activities or off campus. Things are being planned for both, but no details are really set in stone yet. I don't know as much about off campus activities, but there are fund raisers in the works right now. On campus we are planning a prayer service and handing out ribbons at the bus stop...probably not on that day because it's a Sunday...but the prayer service on campus will most likely be that day. If anyone has any ideas or wants more information, feel free to email me and I'll give you what I can. KEEP THE HOPE ALIVE! |

There is no other choice but to be persistent and resourceful in searching for both help and answers about what happened to Josh. Indifference and non communication by the police and SJU are not the end to this situation -- because, the people who care about Josh will not give up. I don't know whether it's inertia, or fear -- but the students at SJU need to speak out -- loudly -- and keep searching for the truth. The national media as well as the local media are resources that will help. Josh deserves every bit of effort and courage his friends and family can muster in order to find him. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I've made efforts to contact Bill O'Reilly on Fox news, Oprah Winfrey and America's Most Wanted. The police have failed Josh, SJU has failed Josh, but through the Lord's grace those who want the truth will keep looking for the truth -- and by the grace of God, we will find it |

I'm wondering what these anonymous people who are making these suggestions in their comments would do? For family and friends, it's phone calls not returned, emails unanswered, and for some, the request they discontinue all contact. Those who have the power to continue this investigation already know how monumentally important finding Josh is to his family. Maybe they would listen when the outcry is coming from the ubiquitous "everyman". So, go ahead, use your imagination, and your power. Consider how many school officials, law enforsement officials, local and state government officials you can contact with your outrage at what seems to be indifference to the disappearance of this wonderful young man. Josh...you and your mom and dad are daily in my thoughts and prayers...until your return--hope and love are living here in MI... |

A young man's parents send him to a university to study and prepare for a bright future ahead. But what happens instead? The young man goes missing -- gone -- disappeared -- right off the grounds of the college campus. One moment Josh is at a party in a dorm, the next moment --he has vanished, never to be heard from again. It does not make sense. Someone on that campus knows what happened to Josh. Someone must have heard something -- seen something; but the leads for this case are nil, and there's no trail to follow ... supposedly ... The time has come to demand answers from the police, and from SJU. Josh has been gone from his family for almost one year now -- the police offer no hope or help, and the university wants everyone to forget it ever happened. Speak up -- be bold -- help bring Josh back home ... if you don't do it, no one else will. My prayers are with Josh, wherever he may be, and his family, may the Lord bless and comfort you |

Hi Josh~Just thought I should write since I haven't said anything in a while. School is in full swing now, I've even had my first exam already. Campus is much different this semester. They took down all the posters of you, I feel like did it not to scare the incoming students, but they should have a right to know what happened that night. They are now a part of our community. Don't worry we will put them back up, people need to know that you are still missing and not give up until you're back. I can't believe it's been a year already, I feel a year older, but can't believe how fast the time has gone. Every day I wonder what you would be doing if you were still on campus with all of us. But anyways, everyday when I'm walking to class I say a little prayer that you will come home soon, or that we will at least get some answers. We all miss you lots, come home soon! Always, Hannah |

Josh is not going to "magically" reappear, because I don't believe he left of his own accord to begin with. This means that every person out there who cares about this young man, besides his own suffering family, needs to take some kind of action, now. Time to bring Josh home, but finding out what happened to him will require persistence, courage and boldness. Start seeking the truth, and do not be intimidated! I will be praying for guidance and perseverence for us all. |

I get the feeling that SJU has a history of not being forthcoming with information about certain topics. I would get a petition going, demanding that the university re-open its "investigation" into Josh's disappearance. I would write every newspaper in proximity to that school and to Josh's hometown, and let them know there have been no satisfactory answers given as to what happened to Josh. I would also ask them (the newspaper reporters) to investigate Josh's case further. Let's face it, no one really cares about finding Josh except his family, friends, and those citizens who want the truth. Time to raise heck, protest, demand answers -- it's time to find Josh and bring him back home. God bless Josh and all who love and miss him. |

St. John's needs to take full responsibility. They have already been involved in illegal activity--allowing minors to consume. I PRAY and HOPE that they come CLEAN! |
