3/11/04 Anonymous Message #1671   We all have our own agendas. The Dean's sole agenda is protecting the image of SJU. It is a fallacy to even consider the notion that Mr. Guimond is "infringing" on the student's rights. That sounds like an excuse to justify banning Mr. Guimond from the campus. What is it about this case that SJU is uncomfortable with? What is causing the university to take a position of "no further communication" with Josh's family? It's strange behavior, period, and is only drawing further suspicion to the motives of the school. Josh's family has only one aim, and that is to find him. And now, it appears, the university has one aim -- and that is to prevent the family from searching the very place from which Josh disappeared. It is cruel, heartless and odd behavior on the part of SJU.

You see, Liz, if the university isn't providing help to the Guimond family with regard to uncovering the truth of what happened to their son, and if the sheriff's dept. is no longer actively investigating the case, this leaves the Guimond family with no other option but to continue the search themselves. I'm sure you can understand that Mr. Guimond feels clues to Josh's disappearance more than likely reside right on the campus of SJU. Therefore, that is where he is focusing his investigation. The Dean is concerned about protecting the image of the university. Mr. Guimond is focused on finding out the answers with regard to what caused Josh to disappear from the campus. Apparently those two agendas are diametrically opposed...alas

3/10/04 Liz Message #1664   I, too, believe that SJU has valid reasons for banning Josh's dad from campus. For those of you who are skeptical, I suggest you contact the Dean of Students and voice your concerns. His word will likely be a lot more conclusive than your own personal speculations.

3/10/04 Anonymous Message #1663   I am guessing the Dean has no reason at all to ban Mr. Guimond from the campus, except that the college does not want negative publicity as a result of Josh's disappearance. I know that I, for one, would advise any parent thinking about sending their child to SJU to look at the history of the school and the associated monastery very closely. My other thought is -- the Dean has no vested interest in providing help or seeking answers in this case. That desire lives only in the hearts of the people who are seeking the truth -- and who are willing to put that desire into action

I can't believe that your class of 2004 is graduating already. Time is going by much to fast. Next, I'm going to get the names of politicians in the area around St. John's, as well as local media publications, and start asking for help. Friends of Joshua, if you really want to help, you can do something in addition to your prayers for Joshua. Start demanding answers ... start finding ways to bring attention to Josh's plight. And if you think none of this is worth it, ask yourself this question. If you were the one missing, would you want your friends and family to stop looking for you?

I think Joshua knew his abductor. Also, what do you mean by us not knowing the "whole story?" I've read everything on this website, plus numerous other articles on this subject -- do these not present the entire story? What am I missing?

3/10/04 Anonymous Message #1656   You're right -- no one knows where the fault rests at this point. *However,* the school has made it clear it will offer no further help in this case -- which I think is odd -- but worse, is the fact that the *school* has banned Joshua's father from the campus. Does that make sense to you? If Mr. Guimond (who, amongst other family members, is the only one searching for Josh at this point), feels it is necessary to interview students and conduct other research on the campus, I think he is fully justified. What would you do if it was your child? Would you be happy with the fact that SJU has washed its hands of a student who disappeared on school property? How would you feel if the school banned you from investigating the disappearance of your child ... in light of the fact that *no one else* is helping?

3/9/04 ???? Message #1655   For some people who dont know the whole story, it does seem like the wrong thing to do. Please dont speak before you know the whole story, and if you do know the whole story, i am not saying that they should stop the search for Josh. I know he went missing from SJU, but it is not the campus' fault...someone could have came onto campus and done it within 2 minutes. Dont ever think that i will give up.

Joshua's parents sent him to SJU to receive an education -- not to turn up missing on the grounds of the campus ... and you think the college is justified in banning Josh's parents from searching to find *their son?* I don't understand that kind of thinking at all. Tell me, were it your own son or daughter, would you keep searching and asking questions, or would you give up? Further, if you knew the sheriff's department had given up, and the university was no longer cooperating or helping -- would you throw your hands up in the air and walk away? No parent I know would do that. God forgive you if you are a "friend" of Josh's -- for, if you were, you would understand the endless pain and suffering of Josh's parents. Two options remain: one, fight for the truth, or two, give up. But the second choice isn't really an option, is it

Why is it that the kids are the ones who initiated making ribbons and a big poster on the 1 year date? Why is it that the campus does not have to notify anyone about the sex offenders who live there yet a community is notified when one is let out of jail? Why when 2 weeks after Josh went missing and we had another search did the campus security tell us we could not use 4-wheelers to aid in the search? If the campus and the monistary are seperate why are there monks that live on each floor of the dorms?

As for Brian what good reasons do they have to bar him from the campus? Also the monastery controls SJU in other words they are one in the same.

3/9/04 ??? Message #1650   First of all, I dont think we can blame the school for not looking into the case. They are following stearns county, and it is them who arent doing anything, not SJU. Second, Brian is not let on SJU campus for good reasons and i believe SJU is doing what they have to do. Third, SJU and the monestary are seperate. SJU are not the ones keeping people out, it is the monestary keeping people out. I think that it is bad that we cant question the monestary too, but we cant give SJU a bad rap for this, it isnt their fault. I back SJU up in this situation and they are doing what they have to do to keep up the rights that their students have.

They say they are cooperating with law enforcement, yet law enforcement hasn't been actively working on the case since last July. It took them 14 years to admit they didn't follow up on local people in Jacobs case. We know they are not doing anything to find Josh. Then when Josh's Dad starts to talk to people about Josh's dissappearance they ban him from campus. Neither the Abbott or the Dean of the college will talk to Josh's Dad or myself. You would think they would do anything to help find Josh. What are they hiding?

But the only way to make this happen is for all the friends and people who seek justice in this case to continue to be very vocal -- and very active -- in bringing attention to Josh's plight. 3/9/04 Mom Message #1645   Yesterday at 4:25pm Josh's Dad - Brian Guimond - was told by Jason Laker - Dean Of Student Life - that he was banned from the campus. He had been up there talking to people about Josh's disappearance. Why would the college do such a thing. Also why does the college protect the 13 pedophile priests they house up there? Why is it that the same laws do not apply to them? Are the parents and students told about these men when they decide to send their children there? I know they did not discuss this when Josh and I went for his orrientation. The public should be just as outraged as they are for Dru Shedine. Josh I love you and we will find you.

My belief is that the person or persons with information may be afraid or intimidated to speak out...and I can't say I blame them...though I do hope and pray some day they will find the courage to do so. I wonder how extensive that "good 'ol boy" network is in the surrounding community -- I think perhaps pretty deep and with lots of $$$ for hush money. I have the feeling that those who possess significant information on the case are terrified to come forward. After all, who is going to protect them -- a group that might have ties to that good 'ol boy network? I cannot blame anyone for being fearful

2/25/04 Anonymous Message #1629   Then the question is ... what is this man's alibi on the night Josh went missing ... and was his "sabbatical" a planned event or something suddenly decided upon. I cannot accept the theories that Josh somehow fell into a lake/got lost/sunk in mud on the campus/ran away or committed suicide. I think he may have been "lured" to go somewhere by someone he knew, although I know abduction by a stranger is also a possibility. Even though a tracking dog found Josh's scent near that lake, it was searched and nothing was found. Students at SJU, if you know something but are afraid of being identified, there are many ways you can communicate with the family without being identified.

It is not easy for any of us and we will always help each other through it. I have this feeling that you are ok and I am going to ride that feeling until we find you.
