As for Joshua, let none of us presume to know his thoughts, for we don't know what caused this nightmare. It is unfortunate that the university finds itself in a controversial position -- but, it just happens that this was where Josh disappeared

3/24/04 Anonymous Message #1774   The hard cold fact is as follows: Joshua disappeared from the grounds of St. John's University. The lakes on the campus have been searched, along with the woods and surrounding areas. It seems to me that until this matter is resolved, it is incumbent upon the university to continue to provide the resources -- financial and otherwise -- until the answer about what happened to Joshua is found. Meanwhile, as uncomfortable as it is to speculate on unsavory possibilities -- one of these may prove to be true. I don't know why the English professor is regarded with suspicion - what would be the purpose of mentioning his name -- to merely assault his character -- or because a genuine concern exists

3/24/04 Anonymous Message #1770   Aubs, I've been doing a lot of research into this case lately -- but if memory serves, I believe for those particular quotes, I clicked on "Web Resources" in the menu of this website, then clicked onto the "Maple Lake Messenger," then did an advanced search under "Joshua Guimond." It brought up about a dozen or so articles, and in one of those is where I located the quotes I posted. Let me know if you have trouble finding them.

I, too, thank everyone for their prayers and support. Today's Star-Trib article will hopefully help more people understand Brian's behavior better. 3/23/04 neutral Message #1758   I agree that SJU isn't making themselves look so great by getting this restraining order. I also understand that Brian feels he needs to conduct his own investigation to find his son. However, could someone please tell me how on earth threatening students with the prospect of being hit in the head with a 2 x 4 is at all pertinent to finding Josh? If i'm missing something, please let me know.

This might annoy or make some people uncomfortable -- but what could be more uncomfortable than to be the parent of a child gone missing? What could be more annoying than having a sheriff's department tell you they've done all they can do and that's that? What could be more disturbing than to know the very university from which your child vanished is banishing you from looking for clues as to what happened?

3/23/04 Mom Message #1751   Josh, Your Dad has stirred things up again - GOOD FOR HIM - Maybe this will help to find you. I have read the news paper acticles and alot of the comments that are generated from them. It is good to know there are alot of people out there that support your Dad and to them I say THANK YOU. To those who do not just hope you never find yourselves in this situation. Everyone reacts in different ways but you do what you feel needs to be done. Why aren't law enforcement and the college searching the water again? The family tried to have that area drained when this first happened and we were stopped by those very people. We have turned in many leads and have been told every time they were not credible. The Fund paid for the Trident to come - Not Stearns County - after the family and friends went to the county commissioners to have them plead with the Sherriffs dept. I say KEEP IT UP BRIAN. I miss and love you Josh. Mom

3/23/04 Amber Zieske Message #1750   I am Amber Zieske, my mom and dad are Kevin and Laurie Zieske. My dad is a good friend of Brent, Brian's brother. I am 17 years old and recently read an article in the Star Tribune about a restraining order that is being put on Brian, possibly up to two years, to stay off of Josh's college campus unless he is accompanied by someone and seeks permission from the sheriff's office. I don't think that they have any right what so ever. No one knows how you feel, and the few that do have also lost a child. I just want you to know that there are even signs up in Redwood Falls that my mother and father put up for Joshua. They are trying to stop you from searching for your son in his hometown, but we have signs up over two hours away?! Maybe they do have something to do with his disappearance. If you need any help with anything, I am very willing and eager. I also hope that this court case about the Restraining order makes it to the Supreme Court. Thank you, Amber Zieske

If there is no reason to go to that persons home and question them, then you cannot randomly go and do that. I would think Patty Wetterling knows what you can and cannot do. She has developed a foundation and deals with this every day. She knows.

Well, I would ... after all, if the family doesn't keep up the search --- if the family doesn't keep fighting for information and seeking answers -- who will? Question: as a mother, or a father, to what lengths would you go to in order to find the truth of what happened to a son or daughter you mysteriously lost? I felt your mom too was let down on the Montel Willams show but that doesn't mean that she will give up. Even if your dad is getting negative press, at least he's speaking out the best that he can right now. I know your family will leave no stone unturned at the campus. There has to be some answers there and I believe your family will contiune to be looking for you there until the truth unfolds or until there is proof that you are not still there. I'm thinking about you everyday and praying for your safe return!

3/22/04 Anonymous Message #1733   Thank you for that quote, Aubs. It is unfortunate that some people have a deficit of compassion to the extent they are unable to fathom the plight of the Guimonds. I say, if SJU really wants to help this family, they provide the funds necessary to have those lakes searched again. If they (SJU) are in agreement with the sherrif's dept. that Josh drowned in a campus lake, I think this is the most sensible and humane thing they can do. Otherwise, neither they (SJU), nor the sheriff's dept., can expect anyone to be satisfied -- nor accepting -- of the lack of continued help with regard to Josh's disappearance
