I'm startled that there has been no public acknowledgment -- neither by law enforcement nor by the local media -- of the possibility of foul play, given that Jacob Wetterling disappeared just a few miles away and another boy, Jared, had been kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and released in nearby Cold Spring. I think if a St. Ben's woman had disappeared, the response would have been different -- more like what we saw with Dru Sjodin. But this makes absolutely no sense, because almost all of the sexual assaults and kidnappings in the area have involved boys, not girls.
