The KARE 11 Extra, for the first time that I'm aware of, also provided public acknowledgment that the Vidocq Society was instrumental in solving the double homicide at the O'Connell funeral home in Hudson, Wisconsin. The alleged murderer, Father Ryan Erickson, hanged himself within a week of being questioned. I've seen interviews with members of his congregation and it's clear their priest was the last person they would have suspected in these brutal killings. True, we shouldn't have tunnel vision, but despite the reporting in the Star Tribune and Pioneer Press articles referenced earlier, we should be extremely cautious about jumping to the conclusion that the person of interest cited in connection with the Reker case had any involvement in the girls' murder.
