"It's been nearly a year since 17-year-old Craig Frear walked out of a friend's home in Scotia and disappeared. ... Now the search for the teenager is hitting the national spotlight.Frear -- an honor student, athlete and popular kid -- disappeared in broad day light and no one has the slightest reason why. ... We're destroyed,'' said his mother, Veronica Frear, describing what her husband and two other children have been through since June 27, 2004.On that day at around 2 p.m. Craig Frear was leaving a friend's house at Cambridge Manor Apartments in Scotia. His friend’s mother says she saw him walking down a path that leads to acres of wooded area. He has never been seen or heard from again.Police combed the wooded area.More than 300 parents who knew the Scotia-Glenville High School soccer star searched the woods and an area behind Craig Frear's house along with dogs and search and rescue teams.His picture has been posted on state and national missing children's websites.There has not been a trace of the teen. No one has come up with a single scrap of information, nor a motive for his apparent vanishing into thin air.''Craig had never mentioned anything to anybody that he was upset, despondent, that he wanted to get away. He never mentioned anything to anyone,'' Scotia Police Officer Martin Bailey said.Forensic experts checked his computer and the computers of his friends for instant messages that would give clues. There was nothing and no indication that drugs or alcohol might play a part. ...
